Jack Grealish

I really don’t think that we bid without knowing Grealish has said yes.

The bid of £100 million if to be believed is a strange one, no add on’s (which are normal and tend to be win-win), all up front.

It is either some clause or one we are doing to know it would have to be accepted.

If the player wants to go, it would be impossible to turn down that level of money.

Exciting times to be City.
It's the first time we have bought the best player in the market. In the past we've gone for foreign players who turned out to be the best but we didn't know it for sure.

We're helped no doubt by Man Utd declining. In the past they had a free run at Rooney, Ferdinand, Keane etc. Now these players want to play for us.

No way he comes here now anyway as apparently he has let pep down twice including last season when allegedly we nearly had Kane in the bag and then Leo phoned pep saying he wanted to come so city changed to go all out for him and then he did a Kaka!

It was just banter, mate.

Choosing to take it seriously, for a second, just for the sake of discussion. Pep has known and coached Leo for many, many years. He adores him. I really doubt that he was pissed off with Leo for his choice. He came under huge pressure from his family. That's something Pep can well understand. He may be the most demanding coach on the planet, he always puts family first. Think of how he was in relation to Merlin's little one.
For myself, I always felt ambivalent about it. Who wouldn't be excited to see one of the best players there's ever been in that sky blue shirt? But if coming here meant that he was getting a weekly salary that was way over what everyone else in the dressing room was getting — and they would all have known it, of course — I was very uneasy about it.

And this the Rags and dippers know

Different times, if he was about now and had to be dedicated and train hard imagine how good he would have been
But he wasn't driven, or that's a perception.

The one thing we must guard against this season is complacency. The players might look around and think we don't have to do the dirty stuff. We are too good. We will win just by keep ball.

I'm absolutely purring at the thought of what KDB and Grealish can do together in this team. An extra creative weapon in midfield is frightening for the opposition and I've no doubt Grealish will go up another level under Pep.

I love Bernardo. His graft, workrate, the energy, the lovely left foot and the balance he brings to the team etc are extremely valuable but Grealish brings X factor, creativity, hunger and is a player on the upwards trajectory. I think once he settles we will be even better with Grealish.

That's where your insane squad depth has proven to be an ace in the hole whenever a crisis would hit another squad, Pep has had the resources to plug in another world class talent to fill the gaps. No team in the world outside of maybe PSG has that in the cannon.

But but but I thought every player your mob sign is world class?

I know a lot of folks here want to cling onto some kind of rivalry between our clubs, as indicative of the ''likes'' here. United fans I know from the 80's do not care. There is no rivalry. It's a fiber glass rivalry, it's allowed to pilfer and foment on match days, but for the rest of the year Manchester has become a hub of cosmopolitan globalism. Anyone that experienced any kind of rivalry are refugees in different counties now. When I hear our fans talk about ''we''. We are not part of our clubs. That was proven during the pandemic when both of our clubs had rocketed revenues and net gains. It doesn't matter anymore. Of course I appreciate the novelty of us vs them. It doesn't work like that anymore. Football has become pro-wrestling. I hold no grudge against my neighbor. Red or Sky Blue. I'll probably sign off with this post. When we're being told to obey by the state, and to watch our teles with our sky subscriptions, I can't help but feel like our ''rivalry'' is being manipulated to distract us from the real problems.

I feel that post is more your feelings towards football rather than the general consensus.
It is amazing the amount of rags who are now "not bothered about football anymore".
The same Facebook rags who are now getting giddy at the thought of finally competing once again. The ones who only give it large when you are winning and then skulk away when things turn back to shit.

The thing is you might win the odd trophy. You have thrown enough money at it season after season for the last ten years. We have also spent bucket loads. But have at least have had amazing success. So i think it fair we can justify breaking a transfer record or two now.

Almost every single "The United Way" myth has been abandoned in the process. Everything rags have thrown at us over the years have come back to bite you on the arse. "We don't sack managers and give them time" is just one of a truck load of bullshit. "You cannot buy success" which then turned to "You have bought success".

As things stand, you might be better backing off football a little more.
The reason being that to dominate rather than grab the odd trophy, you need several things in place.

The first one is interested or determined owners. Not leeches.
A successful and proper manager. Not one who gives his parking space to the ex boss (who is pulling the real strings BTW)
Money (not debt)
A system of playing or playing style. I'd be fucked if i can work out your system/style.

You have none of the above.

You question Grealish at City, but from what i've read, he is a player a lot of rags wanted.
If Sancho and Varane turn out to be flops (as i've yet to see Sancho have a truly great game), where do you go from here?

Sky sports saying Villa will accept the bid this morning. I reckon it's already done and Jack will be in Manchester by Tuesday at the latest
I think this was a done deal before the end of Euro’s. With Villa hopeful of him changing his mind over the last few weeks.
The news has come out now, as Grealish will be having his medical over next few day’s, and Villa can no longer string-out their own fan base.
