Jack Grealish

Also you're doing the weird FIFA-generation thing where people pretend you turn into a old man at 30. David Silva was playing every single game without any problem until he was 33, when age did effect him although he still managed 50 games. Fernandinho the same.

Age is not a valid reason to buy someone this summer.
No my friend, I was asking a genuine question, and if you’re answer is “until 33” you could have answered that without being so pressed.

We can keep doing this thing of listing the numbers of players we have, but there is the intangible in football which is that sometimes a group of players mentally stop working as a group and need renovation and spark. I could list you a good number of teams, and so could you honestly. The risk of complacency “do we need this?” is objective but the subjective part of it is something that can only be done internally. Pep’s game is much more about the mental game than the physical game and he knows how far he take out of this group of players at a top level and whether more (or different) is needed

Brilliant player, I'd love him here but unless Pep wants rid of one of our main wingers then there just isn't room for him.

LW - his position, we have Sterling, Foden and Torres. Plus with a possible £100mil+ striker coming in Gabby could also see game time on the left.

But maybe we convert him to CM a la Dave Silva. Then there you have Gundo in form of his life, KDB the best in the world, Bernardo Silva replicating the form of his life, Foden who picks up games there to round his overall game out and a few promising prospects that'll look to pick up some cup games next season(Doyle & Palmer).

So unless we sell a big player or want to massively disrupt the harmony and rotation we have in this squad, we'll not be getting Grealish.

Oh I see. You're one of those people.

The kind that's watched Guardiola buy half a dozen young players who all did nothing special in their first 6-12 months only to kick into gear in the second season, but hasn't learned anything from it.

The kind who's already forgotten how he stood up and delivered for us in September/October when we had a quarter of the squad injured.
I literally have no idea what you’re talking about. My initial thought about Ferran was based on adapting to the English game.
I can’t tell if you’re talking about Pep or Ferran in the last paragraph

It's like being I'm being transported back to September and hearing all the bullshit reasons why we were doing so badly. "They're not playing for him any more. Players get tired of the same message." "Things Stagnate if you don't bring in new people".

Not only did this manager and team prove that to be utter nonsense by winning 28 games in a row with the same players who'd allegedly lost their spark, but it's another false argument, as we're all aware that Haaland/Kane/Someone else will arrive for record money, a new LB will probably arrive and probably a Fernandinho replacement too.

So there will already be turnover and fresh faces and ideas in the squad without Grealish.

Do you bother to read the subsequent posts or do you just hit the post reply button as quickly as possible to qct like a troll?
I read them yeah, Guardiola didn't tolerate pricks at Barca and he hasn't tolerated them here, Yaya being the perfect example on both occasions, so I'm not sure why you brought him up as an example, the latter posts had no relevance to that.

Of all the players we are linked with in the summer, I think Grealish is the most likely to sign.
As a person I think he’s a knob. On the pitch you can’t argue with his quality and application. Tevez mark 2 in that regard.

That's a fucking awful idea in my opinion.

I love Gundo and he's a capable 6, but this season has shown us that in certain games there is no substitute for a quick, physical number 6 who knows all the dark arts of the position. Fern at 35 has shown why Pep always needed someone hard to cut through the nonsense.
IMO we don't need a quick 6 as Rodri's example shows, what we need is a better positioning and more synchonized movement of the whole team. Once it gets right and there are no gaps left for counters, there's simply nowhere to run at the base of midfield

Keita at Barcelona was a key player in some massive games despite Busquets/Initesta/Xavi being one of the best midfields ever
That Barca team had the tiniest set of midfielders and attackers in the world, so Keita's presence was indeed beneficial in some games. But you don't need Keitas to protect KdB and Gundogan, it's a completely different ballpark in terms of height and power.

Pep needed Vidal at Bayern for the same reasons.
It was reported that Vidal was forced on Pep by Bayern hierarchy. Pep asked them to buy the current City midfield - KdB and Gundogan, but got the Chilean instead.

I would be surprised if he signed that contract last year without some sort of deal to leave if certain clubs come in for an agreed fee.

No point signed a contract knowing you will be priced out of a potential move by the club unless you are Harry Kane.

You keep trying to put me in a box as “one of those”. I never said any of those things and I always said this squad could deliver a lot more. I’m not even saying they can’t do it again next season. I’m saying this evaluation is made internally and subjectively. Also, yeah, let’s assume Haaland, Mendes and Zakaria come in — I still think what Grealish would add would be a different kind of spark and, again, homegrown and used to domestic competitions. I guess I also have less faith than most people here that we won’t be losing anyone in the coming summer. Pep has been talking about “maybe some players need to talk to their agents and go to another club” a few times. We’ll see what happens

You're creating a strawman where the only players we have are KDB, Gundogan and Mahrez.

Why would they play 2 games a week every week? We already have Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden, Sterling, Jesus and Ferran Torres in the squad. Christ, Mahrez has only played about 40% of our minutes since he arrived and you think he's going to be over worked?!

Also you're doing the weird FIFA-generation thing where people pretend you turn into a old man at 30. David Silva was playing every single game without any problem until he was 33, when age did effect him although he still managed 50 games. Fernandinho the same.

There is probably an element of forward planning going on, and also us having to move prematurely or risk the player going elsewhere.

I think it’s a bit similar to Bernardo’s transfer a few years back, we didn’t particularly need him at the time either but if we hadn’t moved for him that summer he’d have gone elsewhere. I think the same is happening with Grealish.
