Jack Grealish

Not really.

Player value determined by two major factors, the quality of the player + the length of his contract.

IF the player become unhappy, that doesn't mean his value should drop couple millions.

Grealish is not half as good as Bernardo, so buying him to replace Bernardo will be another crime from the 3 amigos ( Pep, Txiki & Ferran ).

Still at it after all these years.

What you’re saying is that you’ve not seen him make a statement in the press that he wants to leave? Because there’s quite obviously been plenty in the press saying he wants to leave via “sources” (which is usually his agent or even the player themselves whilst asking not to be quoted)

It is a fairly simple thing I have asked, I don't see the need for this devil's advocate juggling. But in essence, yes, partly.

I have seen a few tweeted and then retweeted claims, by nobodies. People that would have no reason to have links to bernardo's camp. Nothing more. Seems a bit of a runaway collectively formed opinion that is all.

I don't necessarily need to see it from the player himself or his camp as such,
(or the explanation of how rumours work) but the level many here have assumed suggests that has happened.

It feels a bit self propelling, over very little, and every time someone says 'seems brenardo is on his way' the next takes it a bit more for granted too.

I'm just questioning if there is anything worthwhile behind that, and from your response, I maintain there isn't.

As an aside, the exact same sources made similar claims that Gundo might move to Barcelona. And many other of our players. We have not clung onto those claims and turned them into somewhat of a given, the way we have with Bernardo. Which kind of reinforces my point, it is more of a collectively formed opinion by echo, than there really is behind it.

Edit. If you think that is enough and believe that he is likely to leave based on that, I am not jusdging btw. I just wanted to know the extent of what it is based on, and now I think I do.

I think you’re right that there doesn’t seem to be any evidence to suggest it. I think for most including myself it’s a no smoke without fire type scenario. There’s been more than one report about him not being happy, usually when things like this are reported and it’s bollocks the player or club may say something. I think the silence tells its own story also

That is completely fair. If it wasn't for the way our club have in the past few years stayed quiet on many things generally, I would probably fully agree. As it is, I only partly agree. He also happens to be at a tournament and doubt he wants the distraction of responding to random claims about his state of mind or future. But point very much taken.

For example, there have been a couple on here that have claimed to have links with people in his building or his hairdresser or whatever, who claim he is happy in Manchester. They are people I have never met or even conversed at any meaningful length on here, they could be full of shot
or could genuinely just be saying what they think, but is their claim really any less believeble than some random on twitter in Barcelona who wants to see his club sign Bernardo?

I have no real issue with the assumption, I just wanted to know if it was based on more than I've seen, and that has been answered. I think partly as well there must be a bit of a putting two and two together that if we are in for Graelish the club must know someone is leaving and Bernardo maybe seems most likely, and those tweets add to that.

I'd love either Grealish or Kane to sign. So far though. all we have is no smoke without fire but with the press and Manchester City that has no meaning. Sanchez, Maguire, Koulibaly. All done deals, all imminent at some point in time. All complete garbage.

I would not be surprised at all if most of the Grealish speculation is sourced by the player's agent because he can come out of this with an improved contract and then say to his adoring supporters Villa till I die, and be even more of a hero to them than he is now. On the other hand Manchester City have just won the Premier League and our stock has never been higher, and this is possibly the first time we genuinely can buy who we want. I believe we will be in the market for these players because we would be stupid not to be but so far the reporting is completely unreliable.

But the 3 players you mention we were balls deep for and even @tolmie's hairdoo was saying they were all basically done at some point?

Both are worth what a buying club are willing to pay. I'm getting a bit sick of people going on about Bernardo's valuation as if they know what it actually is. If he's unhappy and desperately wants to leave should we price him out of a move? Or should we show a bit of compassion and grant him a move at a reasonable price, after the service he's given? We tend to treat our players well, I hope that continues.

kane not happy at spurs so lets bid £50miilion for him ?

Maguire aside maybe, I think it is more a case of those transfers didnt materialise, rather than they were 'complete garbage' links.

Maybe these don't end up happening either, maybe they do. Maybe we are not as far down them as suggested, but I wouldn't rule out any interest or effort. I certainly don't think the examples you claim can be used to argue there is nothing in these.
