Though, to be fair, Yaya mostly caused his little ruckuses via his agent and Grealish and his agent, Jonathan Barnett, aren't at all like that.
Indeed, they were quick to poor cold water of the speculation about him going to Untied in the summer.
Untied's pet hacks put the rumours out and Barnett poored cold water on the speculation by briefing the press to say that Grealish had one priority, and that was helping to keep Villa in the Prem.
 
Another slow player to play on the wings? Yeah as if Bernardo and Mahrez aren‘t enough.
 
I wasn't convinced about Grealish. In the league cup semi final 2nd leg against Leicester he disappeared when the game was there to be won so I wondered whether he could only perform when in a team that was overall quite weak and where he was seen as the key player. This season though he's really kicked on and I've been really impressed by him. His performance against Wales (albeit they were shite) was absolutely class and just the kind of player England have been crying out for. He keeps the ball well, is quick, can beat players or provide pinpoint passes. And he's disciplined off the ball too.

Would be more than happy to see him at City.

His speed doesn't seem to have hampered his progress so far.Besides Pep doesn't exactly encourage the classic wing play in our tactics.

He's intelligent with the ball,very strong in possession and wins fouls for fun.....he's close to perfect in his style for our set up.

He's definitely not as fast as a lambo but he'd leave one for dead over 10 yards, if the lambo didn't know where he was heading before he set off.
That's what it's all about in the small spaces on the pitch, where players with the ball need to create that little bit of breathing room to see where people are, to pull players in and to lay off to a companion or try to chip the keeper or whatever. That quickness of the mark and quick thinking are all it takes.

With Grealish, and players like him, it's not about 0 - 60 at breakneck speed, it's about enough initial speed to keep the ball, create space, play the ball or shoot. He doesn't need a sub 10 second 100m because he's never had that, so copes fine without it.
Regards speed; what he needs is what he's got and you only need to take time out to watch him play to see that.
Could David Silva have kept up with Walker over 100m - nah mate, could Silva have swiveled his hips and left Walker for dead over 10 yards? Yes mate, every time.

That Silva and Walker reference there reminded me of this goal - geriatric Totti taking Kompany for a walk then exposing and neutralising his dependence on physicality with clever movement.

Grealish is exactly what we need in the advanced midfield area/final third; we require pace at the base of it to neutralise counters, but since Silva’s decline then departure we lack someone who can operate in small spaces with close control at a walking pace, and add an element of artistry to the perpetual full-pelt intensity of Foden, Sterling, and De Bruyne.
