Jack Grealish

Indeed. Ferna is the most obvious one but by all accounts (rightly so) will extend. Maybe an offer comes for one of tbe others, or maybe they look to leave. Who knows. As it stands, hard to see.

PS I'm glad you excluded Gabi from that.

Yes for the moment Grealish is an 8 or a winger. When Ferna was leaving it made sense in so far as you can push Gundo to 6 and play Jack in the 8. But if Ferna stays which he is doing, that’s too many players and more importantly that’s too many players who will want to play.

One thing I’ll say. Pep has talked a lot this season about unhappy players leaving. Let’s see post the CL final if someone actually gets an offer from somewhere and asks for a move. Because outside that I can’t see it. City tend not to force players out of the club.

Kdb is going nowhere. Ferna, if he extends, same. Torres and Foden no way would the club contemplate that.

Leaves chances of sterling, mahrez gundo, bernardo, if any were to leave. Possibly in that order.

Any other players leaving, like mendy carson etc, would free up a space, but also need replaced in that position taking the space back up. So it is likely it only happens if one of the above might leave.

Not for me, runs down blind alleys loses the ball and falls on his backside moaning to the referee way too often. I just cant see how he can improve our team.

Ball retention and being a direct threat is a vital attribute to have in this team - hence why Mahrez has stood out this season and Sterling has frustrated.

Grealish has both of those while also seemingly being desperate to join/prove himself and also grafting his bollocks off whenever he plays.

It is somewhat ironic, that if Foden handn't established himself as a capable regular in the side, there would be a little bit more sense to the need for Graelish. But therw would be a Lot more resistance to the idea of it.

As it is with Foden being a safe part of the team now, there is a lot more open mindedness to Jack joining. But far less need.

Grealish replaces Torres.

Torres replaces Jesus

Jesus goes to spurs as a makeweight

Kane replaces Kun

Torres plays through the middle as rotation for Kane. Foden\Sterling\Mahrez\Grealish as the wingers.

That's how I see it.

Logic in that.

Think it would be a mistake though. Rather have Gabi.

In addition to those, it's possible that Jesus might wish to leave. If somebody like Kane or Haaland was coming in, he may see his future elsewhere.

It may look like it would leave us short up top but Torres looks like he could play that role effectively, we have Delap coming through and also the false 9 formation, so I guess it is a possibility.

Yeah possibly, see my own opinion above though.

I hope not. Jesus is very good. Hope Sterling goes to make way instead.

I like Gabi but I think Kane would score more goals and get more assists in a four year stint with the club than Gabi would in double the time.

It's harsh on gabi but his numbers and finishing aren't Kun/Kane level and never will be.

Torres seems to be far better in that role and maybe the club see him as a better long term option.

You explained that just fine but I’ve been up since 5.45am and it took me a while

I hate to say it but I think Jesus is the most likely to leave. He needs to play more than he has done this season, and especially in 2021. IMO he's in a tiny minority of players who seem to have not improved at all under Pep, if anything I feel he has regressed.

The big thing is that with a World Cup coming in 2022, you have to wonder how Jesus will feel about Kun being replaced by someone like Kane who will basically be undisputed number 1. Tricky one. Especially if someone big comes calling. Jesus is the type of player that everyone from Juventus to At Madrid even Real/Barca/Bayern would consider. Were it not for covid I suspect he'd have gotten a big move last summer.

Mendy and Steffen, to me, look the two that simply aren’t playing enough to warrant a squad space. If we could get Grealish and Kane, we’d be top heavy for a season, but others will leave further down the line.

So you’d get rid of a Goalkeeper and/or a left back to accommodate a forward/midfielder?

Honestly think that we may see 2 of those attacking players wanting to move on

Gabby, mahrez, sterling or bernardo

I hope it isnt bernardo. But he may think its time to move on after everything he has had thrown at him

Mahrez was reported as wanting out at one stage - his form has stood out in the 2nd half of this season, can we put that down to playing himself into a move?

Sterling has been very poor this year

Gabby wont replace Kun's goals, he may see the notion of a new formidable striker coming in as time to go

Suppose we will find out after Saturday, didnt pep say at some point that some player(s) wanted to leave? Laporte may be included in that as well

I didn’t say I would get rid off them. I’m simply pointing out that those are two players who are not playing enough to merit their places and who may now wish to leave. I also pointed out earlier in the thread that Jesus and Laporte are two others that may ask to leave.

Torres Foden Mahrez Sterling

KDB Bernardo Gundo Ferna Rodri.

Hard to see where Grealish fits and hard to see any of the above being sold.

yeah kind of agree but if the fee is reasonable the lads desperate to come why not? Pep will deal with the squad as he always does Superbly..

Whether people like it or not Jesus is most likely to bite the dust, he will find himself behind Kane, Torres and maybe even delap as a striker option next season and as a winger it just isn’t going to happen at least sterling has credit in the bank for what he’s done prior to this big dip in form whereas Jesus has been playing upfront for a side as dominant as us for nearly half a decade now and has 50pl goals to his name, it’s a damn sight less than someone like Danny ings would even rack up and every man and his dog takes the piss out of him on this forum.

Sadly not good enough for where we want to go, and yes he does work like mad but so many other players work like that but also have more quality on the ball and end product than he does.
