This is the moment the penny finally dropped and harsh reality set in. It is the same for every club outside of ourselves, the rags, Chelsea and the dippers. Arsenal and Spurs I think are hovering but may slip too far and end up amongst the also rans. Sure the odd club could do a Leicester and win the odd trophy but it's getting harder and harder. Any club outside the top four who unearth a gem are going to lose him to a bigger club. We were the same pre 2008, SWP being the best example. We got in by the skin of our teeth before the drawbridge was pulled up and they have tried everything in their power to throw us down into the moat ever since.

Clubs who voted for ffp condemned their own fans to this fate but they were too busy hating on us to see they were being screwed. I don't like it but it is what it is.
The last sentence is what really hits the spot

They voted for themselves to not be invited to the party

Fuck em

Tbf....i believe Villa voted against.

I keep hearing the term Modern football. The league is over etc etc…

Fooball has always been this way. The bigger teams take the smaller teams best players.

The only difference is that City are now the bigger team.

Massive news today.

The foaming at the mouth is beautiful:)

Cheers lads. Yeah I’m sure we can agree there’s good and back in all fan groups… Villa have their share of knuckle draggers as do all teams.

I think with Jack it’s more disappointing as he’s a proper local lad, grew up going to Villa games and his family are all fans and stuff, so it sort of feels like if a team can’t keep a player like that then what chance do we have of ever keeping a good player.

It’s just one of those things though, and it’s only a game! Got a feeling City will retain the PL this year, and perhaps have another close one in the CL maybe even win that.

Well done any way lads. You’ve got one hell of a player, who I would say (having watched a lot of him) will get better and better in the next few years.

If your owners are as good as is being touted, there may well come a time when the boot is on the other foot for you at some stage and you'll be after signing someone else's Jack Grealish :-)

Welcome mate and have a good season.

The majority of owners probably knew they would never compete financially so wanted it to give them an excuse not to spend too much. Their thick fans of course celebrated thinking it would halt our progress and accelerate theirs when the opposite was true.

The frustration for a lot of our fans is that our owners are rich, 4th or 5th richest, they said they have no intention of selling Jack and don’t need the money, which means that this is all based on Jack’s desire to leave… and I think that’s what hurts the most.

Also mate, Foden is a great example. Imagine nurturing his talent for years and then him wanting to leave… it’s only football but itsucks sometimes
As others have pointed out it’s not that simple. City are at a party they weren’t invited to. Guess what, you’re not invited either. The elite clubs can’t do much about us now because we’ve arrived. But they have double bolted the door behind us and put out armed guards to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

There’s a tangible hatred for City, fuelled by the media. But every fan of clubs like Villa who got suckered into it were writing their own agreements not to bother the big boys. Genuinely, I for one believe the owners of your club should be able to invest their money in Aston Villa as they please as long as it doesn’t saddle Villa with long term debt. It’s nice to see other clubs challenging. We are not the enemy, until rival fans work that out the media will feed off your hatred to help shore up the cartel.
