Jack Rodwell

Very promising debut, i think de jong will come in for him at liverpool but hopefully he will play a big part this season.

Didn't realise til today how big he his, he's another man mountain next to Yaya. Impressed with his distribution and composure on the ball, def a box-to-box rather than a CB. Not the perfect debut, but all in all a pretty good one. Welcome Jack

6.5 a fair score.

Looked nervous before the game and I'm sure he was a little intimidated to be surrounded by such expectation, but he definitely grew in confidence through the game.

Shame about the misplaced pass that led to their goal, but can't really blame him completely as Soton counter attacked quickly in numbers and caught us out big time, a la Sunderland last season.

Got chucked in at the deep end and coped pretty well imo. First appearance for us and it was a start! Infront of 45k home fans, expecting big things from the team. Yes he made an error, but he'll learn, as will the rest of the team. He did everything simple, rather than go for spectacular cross field passes, flying into tackles etc and over time, his confidence will build and I'm sure he'll be a key part of the squad. In all, I was happy enough with this first appearance in the shirt

very good debut, mistakes happen i gues and he was not the only one today to give the ball away, unfortunatley at that time it was punished.

reminded me at times with how at ease he was on the ball of our captain vinny ! I think he will learn a lot off vinny and will be a class player for us..

Who said he would keep the bench warm !

He started slow, it looked like he was a bit worried of making a mistake, and this showed with the simple slow passing game that he played. He got more into it as the game went on and started to get more involved and looked good. Aside from the mistake, I thought he had a good game, but there was certainly room for improvement. I think the next game he starts he needs to get stuck in from the start. 6.5 out of 10 and a good City debut.

I disagree with the start of that, he looked supremely confident from the off. Was spraying it about with both feet, and about ten minutes in he switched the play beautifully straight to Clichy, two aspects of his game that he already has over Barry. He will be a great player for us.

He did well for a debut, he was obviously quite nervous, that was easy to see and it was easier to understand Bobby's comments that he's one for the future, he'll need time to ease/settle into the role Bobby has planned for him, it's a well done from me.

He looked ok but seemed unwilling to really leave an impact on the game. Continually passed sidewards and backwards and pass over responsibility to his teammates.

One of the criticism from Evertons fans of him and a similar criticism of De Jong by City fans is they pass sidewards too often slowing down the tempo of the game. Hopefully this was due to nerves and he is more positive in future games.

The mistake is just one of those things. Hopefully it wont affect him. For me there is still space foir a deep lying playmaker in that position such as a De rossi.

more often than not players like rodwell are told to break up play and get it to our creative players asap, whether thats forwards, sideways or backwards

there may well be more to his passing game but i'd much rather silva or nasri on the ball and he was constantly giving them possession today

chuffed we came back to win because he didn't deserve to feel like he was the reason we dropped points today - really promising debut for me
