Jack Wilshere

Already 19 and already world class. Would get into ANY side in the world including Barca and Spain.

With him and that Mceacheran, England's future is very bright.

Guardiola is laughing at this.

He wouldn't get in Barca's side but could be in line to get in it once Xavi winds down.

But there is no way into their team right now with Xavi and Iniesta so good. Busquets is one who might be replaceable but he is their holding midfielder and Wilshere sucks at that role as demonstrated for England against Denmark. But even Mascherano can't force his way to a regular first team place.

And Wilshere isn't a forward to contest the incontestable MVP (Messi, Villa, Pedro) so if he was at Barca now he'd either be a hot upcoming star on the fringes of the first team coming off the bench, on loan at a team like Levante, or starring for Barcelona B.

Tell you who would get into Barca's team though - Gareth Bale, as an attacking left-back (they have been linked with him). With him surging down one flank and Alves down the other, Barcelona could be even more dangerous if that is possible.

He was misquoted.

Fantastic player, but he would not get into Barca's 11. There just isn't anyone he can displace in the first 11. He'd make the bench though.

-- Sun Mar 13, 2011 9:36 pm --

He'd have to become a better ball passer to accomplish that. It takes more than just being individually talented to play at Barca. He'd make the bench though.

He's 5x better than Adriano who has been starting down the left regularly lately so would walk into the team ahead of him. Adriano can't defend very well much like Bale and Bale is much much better going forward. Abidal is nothing special at LB either.

Adriano is a left back. Wilshere is a centre midfielder.

Clearly, Wilshere wouldn't just walk into the team and replace Busquets, Xavi, or Iniesta. But my guess is that he certainly wouldn't look out of place in that team.

I wish more English players played abroad. Shame everyone hates us.

Sorry, but Abidal is the sttarting LB and he is bloody special. Frankly top 3 LB's in the world. He is the best in my opinion, but others will argue otherwise. He is cal on the ball, has the touch of a central midfielder. Attacks clinically, can cross, and shoot, and passes better than any leftback in the world. And defending, well just check out what he has done at CD. He is actually better than the starting CD's even though no one wants to say it. They have been lights out since he switched over to sub in for Pique and Hair. No sir Bale is not in his class.

Adriano is really an utility player better suited for RB, but will play LB in a sting. He is their Zaba. And no, he is not a starter, he is not even the preffered backup LB, Maxuel is. And while Maxuel is not as good as Bale, he too is a backup LB. The starting 11 for Barcelona is as follows

..................Goalie......................
ALvez..Pique..Puyol.....Abidal
.............Busquet.......................
.......Xavi.............Iniesta..........
....Pedro...Messi.....Villa.......

That is the starting 11. It would be hard for anyone to break in. Even at positions where they don't have the absolute best player (Say CD for example), You'd think okay, Vidic or Pepe should be able to make the team. But in reality they can't because they are not as well versed in the Tiki taka philosophy as are the starters here. That Vidic might be a better individual defender than Pique is irrelevant if Pique is a better passer of the ball, and understand their group pressure better.

It is the same reason Masherano is a bench warmer and not a starter. Lets not forget Mash was the best DM in the Prem, and was considered the best in the world less than a year and a half ago. But he is still infinitely inferior to Busquet, because of Busquets understanding of the system which is far more important than the individual talent of the player.

This brand of Barca is a unique team. We might be witnessing the most talented team in the history of World football. Boh individually, but more importantly, collectively.

Forget Gerrard, forget Lampard, he is the player we should be building the England team around now. The most exciting player in the country bar none.
