Jadon Sancho

Why? Young English talent leaves club regularly challenging for titles for a German giant of a club - and has what can only be described as a roaring start to his career there. It’s getting the coverage it warrants, with a bit more thrown in because of our transfer policy and the academy he’s left. Not sure why people are baffled by that.

The point I think people are making is that had he left anyone else's academy he wouldn't be getting the coverage he gets now!

Well if he left the academy of a club who has built a campus, spent millions on that campus but seen his career elsewhere because said club buys ready made, high priced players despite having that campus, he would get the same coverage as this player is getting now. It’s unique for that reason whereas if a young James Ward-Prowse left Saints at the same age, for example, it wouldn’t be highlighted as much.

But the implication of our academy is that having spent so much we have a certainty that there will be a constant supply of talent just crowbarred into the first team. We buy because the talent coming out of the academy isn't good enough to dislodge anyone currently in the first team squad. I've watched a fair bit over the road since we 'spent the money' and only Foden and Diaz so far have looked as though they could step into the first team on a regular basis, but development being what it is, it's felt that these two will be fed into the set up re game time over a couple of seasons or so. I hope they are prepared to wait and they accept any assurances from the coaching staff that they have futures at the club. It seems to me that Sancho wasn't prepared to wait and felt he should be ahead of the people in the squad. The obvious ones would be Leroy, Raheem or Riyad. I think it is just nonsense that he was better than any of those three. He might be doing well in Dortmund, he's a good footballer, but Dortmund would never win anything as competitive as the the Premier League. And against which Bundesliga sides has his diamond glittered so brightly?

Thats right, and our academy is constantly under the spotlight because of our relevance, our standing and the heavy investment.

It isnt unexpected as its a headline maker.

The predominant 'reserve' team over the last few seasons at PL2 level and Youth level has been Chelsea. Of the dozens of players in that set up how many have made permanent moves to the first team? There's no back page coverage of CFC having to buy quality from elsewhere to fit into the first team because their academy can't roll out ready-made players.

Some would argue Dortmund are traditionally a bigger club. I wouldn’t, but it’s certain that some will think he’s not just left to pursue first team football, he’s actually doing at a club the same size if not bigger. I reiterate, I don’t think they’re bigger. A more traditional name in Europe? Sure. We ain’t too shabby ourselves in that respect anymore though. The thing is though is it is what it is where football fans and their digs are concerned. We’ve this actual football campus built around our stadium, mini stadium, world class training facilities etc that literally nobody can match. Lazy football banter will point to how we should already have churned out the next messi x 10, whereas instead we continue to buy high profile expensive players. We know why that’s the case, as do those who will take the piss. It’s onky what we’d be doing if all this had happened to Newcastle from 2008, and we were still watching shite. The press just tag onto that and fill their columns until the next story appears. It’s to be expected.

Just to clarify before anyone thinks we do again, there is definitely no buyback clause.
That account(probably on account of me.....) has now deleted the tweet so it can be assumed they were talking shite and your info, plus the unofficial academy site,is correct.

So,in summary,we are back to having no clauses in his contract.

First refusal on a player is the biggest waste of paper in a contract. Players choose their next destination based on who wants them and who pays the most not who speaks to them first. We know that better than most
