Jadon Sancho

If Sancho is the product of our academy who had to leave to get game time, image how good the next lad will be who breaks through.

Let's not kid ourselves that the academy is a business model that feeds the first team - Fair play to him for having the confidence in himself to get where he has so quickly but he didn't earn the right to walk into our first team squad, nor should he.

Wish him all the best and we continue as per plan.

He'll likely end up at utd anyways...

Our club and Pep’s objective is to win trophies, not to have a collection of good players. We’re not in a card-collecting game. We’re in the trophy winning game. There will be players that will always be missed, or youth players leaving and honestly we can’t have them all. Some you get, some you don’t, let’s just move on. As long as we’re winning trophies, that’s all that matters.

I think the thing that didn't help us here is both the pursuit of Sanchez and the fact that Diaz was ahead of Sancho too.

There was oversight there from the club. Sancho couldn't just leapfrog Diaz in the pecking order, despite being the better player with more potential, as that'd be unfair on Diaz.

It's just a shame how it all worked out, because now those two aren't at the club anyway and we had to break the bank for Mahrez who is nothing more than an average squad player with no further potential for growth.

If he ends up at the scum I'll be absolutely gutted. Should've put some kind of buyback clause in there. He's exactly the kind of stand in up coming talent we need right now in and around the squad.

Just a really disappointing one really.

The problem here is agents, they have a decent player then tell them to demand xyz from the club, they know the player won't get it, so that opens the door to them getting the player a decent move and lining there own pockets, same thing happened with pogba at the scum, sancho was offered a great deal by city and could have stayed and learned his trade around some of the finest players in the world, fair fucks to him for going to Dortmund, but in that time has won fuck all, Foden chose to stay learn his trade and has a premiership medal, a league cup medal, not sure if he got a community shield one, but foden chose the slowly slowly approach and is doing ok

I shudder to think how good he will be in 3-4 years time.
Exactly. For those who know a thing or two about Football, and are not just wearing blue blinkers24/7
Some of the comments on here about our former Academy player sound a bit like Joe Jackson.."is she really going out with him."..jealous schoolgirl bitching with underlying tones just as sinister as in the track....

Ffs.we dont need to keep chipping away at a former players talent. We are Champions of England...we dont need to be bitter.
Well done Sancho for taking a bold decision ,getting regular 1st team football and making the england first team...very well done lad.
So many of your peers have fallen by the wayside,or are just sitting on benches. ..you made the move to kickstart your career.others cant handle that....
Thats their problem.

It’s a shame because I think he would be great for us now
But he never would have got the chance and he obviously backs himself.
Also foden needs some games now As he is better than both sancho and Hudson odoi and they have both played for England
It’s time we played him or loan him
That’s for him not us btw
And for all true lovers of the game of Football, who want to see exciting creative talent play...Foden just needs to play Football.

Look people are allowed to have an opinion on the subject, if you don't agree that is also fine but don't come on being the **** from the off and now throwing out idiots, which is kind of ironic really.

So run along and learn to read the posts you actually quoted.

Here it is for you "we signed Mahrez for 70m a season later," so it looks likely that I knew he signed a season after Sancho left or I wouldn't have fucking typed it now would I?

So you just made a wanker of yourself with your little timeline dig, tut, tut idiots indeed eh.

Everton - Rooney 16
Liverpool - Owen 17
Man Utd - Giggs 16

Is that enough for you?

The fact that he has done so well inside of two years is the thing that actually makes it not immaterial ffs.

I very much doubt Sancho expected himself to be in City's first team at 16 or 17 for that matter, it was more the fact he saw absolutely no chance it was going to happen, it still isn't happening for Foden and he should be on the bench at the minimum every week and ready to come on if we hammering somebody and playing against lesser teams.

The other factor is the more younger players see the likes of Sancho leave City and "make it" so quickly from youth player to top teams first team to International it will become harder to get them to show patience, again Foden as a City fan will be different as he will only want to play for us and not look to rock the boat.

Don't bother with a reply, I have no time to be arguing the toss with a person like yourself for the rest of the day.
Very well said Sir.

Mahrez has lots of room for growth, he’s been average this season but still head and shoulders above Sancho.

Dortmund has been a great move for Sancho , but I can only see a good player, not a great player yet.
I would hate to see him go Utd, they would ruin him.

So many of his peers are, like Sancho just starting out their careers. Time will tell whether the path each has chosen was best for them as individuals.

Football is about the here and now .There are soooh many variables affecting any players future career..bad injury, bad attitude, change of manager et etc
Its ridiculous to say wait and see before commenting.what we have here is a situation where the player,City,Dortmund and England are all happy with how things have turned out...Anyone looking at the situation today has to agree, imo, well done to the player for kick starting his career, and helping Dortmund to seriously challenge for the German title and England in the Nations Cup.......what happens after this season ? Who knows? You can say the same of any worldwide top player, operating in such a precarious profession as Football.
The old adage " you only as good as your last game" applies to every footballer..thats the pressure, thats the challenge .Thats Football.

No, that's impatience.

We feel the need to validate decisions straight away, make snap judgements and be the first to say I told you so.

Nothing wrong with taking a wait and see approach.

We'll never know how his career would have panned out had he stayed with us. In the long run it doesn't really matter.

Football is about the here and now

Zinchenko's decision to turn down a lucrative long-term contract at Wolves to stay, fight for his place and further develop under Pep contradicts your black and white concept on player development.
Looks like he will be rewarded with a new long-term contract whilst fighting for the quadruple.

Sancho left because he wasn’t going to get game time ahead of Raz, Sane or Bernie. Because he wasn’t as good as them.

Despite his performances for Dortmund, he still wouldn’t be getting game time for us ahead of Raz, Sane and Bernie. Because he still isn’t as good as them.

It’s part and parcel of what City are now - a club with superb, world class players in most positions. If players back themselves - like Foden and Zinchenko - great. If they think, ‘I need game time NOW’ and leave- good luck to them.
