Jamal Musiala

We seem to be discussing too many names just for Pep to turn around and say it’s enough for the season as players start coming back.

Hope I’m wrong.

£400k a week.
That's haaland level money.
He isn't there.
I’d have to disagree with you on this. I’ve watched them a few times because of Vinny, and Musiala is by far their best and most important player. Without him, their entire offense looks stagnant. He’s the main man there, even ahead of Kane, because while Bayern can still score goals without Harry, they create significantly less when Musiala is absent. Statistically, he’s having an incredible start to the season, and I’d argue he’s currently a top 5-10 player this season.

As for the wages, I just can’t wrap my mind around the idea of a German club paying something as insane as 500k a week, as was reported yesterday. How are they even pulling that off?

Too bad he’s about to sign a new deal. He’d be perfect. Seems like he’s unlocked some new talent with his headers—surprisingly effective, and given his height, it makes sense. But when you think about Musiala and his strengths, heading is probably the last thing that comes to mind.

How much do you guys think we’d have to bid? But it’s just unrealistic—it’s like the same as asking for Vinícius at Real Madrid right now. These clubs don’t sell their best player.

If he doesn’t sign the new deal, he’d only have 12 months left next summer. Bayern wouldn’t be in the strongest position to demand silly money,

Forget about him or Wirtz though. The drop off from KDB will have to be rectified in strengthening other areas because I think we’re all going to be disappointed by who his direct replacement will be.

I feel Musiala will sign a new deal, but we're well in the game if he doesn’t. Bayern could still command a hefty fee due to demand. They did pay £90m for a 30-year-old Kane who was entering the last year of his contract at Spurs. The fee should not be an issue. If City think he's a £110m player and they want him then they should pay it. The fact he's entering his last year in the summer is only relevant to Bayern in terms of needing to get money for him. The marketplace is so competitive that you can't sit on your hands waiting for contracts to expire unless you are Real Madrid, ie the very top of the food chain.

If he won't sign a new deal, City should go balls deep for this lad. He will be tremendous.

Maybe you should email Der Spiegel see if they know or can find out for you

I think if Musiala extends at Munich we go after Wirtz and if Munich sign Wirtz we go after Musiala.

It’s one or the other as our top target and recent reports have suggested Wirtz.

Or Bayern get both. Alternatively Musiala extends and Wirtz follows Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid
If they keep Musiala, get Wirtz, and consider Olise/Kane already in the squad, it’s just outrageous. I don’t see how they’d manage to fit everyone in, but stopping them will be an enormous challenge. I want us to win the Champions League again, but with Real and Bayern building such stacked attacks, it’s becoming harder and harder. Honestly, if they actually pull this off, there’s a strong argument that none of our attackers would make their starting XI. That would be an absolute disaster when you compare the spending of both sides and honestly kinda embarrassing.

You're embarrassed by something that hasn't happened?

Okay....

Why not do everything you can to get both?

Two of the German Generational talents playing in the same team in the PL.

Both will be on huge deals but we are going to have a lot of wages going off the books this summer, Walker, Gundo, KDB and if Spurs are interested in Grealish, that would be somewhere north of 1M a week saved!

100% agree we should do everything to land Wirtz, but this Musiala talk is beyond absurd. There’s zero chance we’re getting him. Why not start rumors about Vinícius Jr. while we’re at it? It’s just as delusional. You don’t poach starters from Bayern or Real, let alone their German superstar. The idea is flat-out ridiculous.

Not so sure with Musiala, very difficult I agree but I think it's a possibility.

The Bundesliga is very poor, not a league for elite players in my opinion.

I think we will be shopping on the shelf below Musiala and Wirtz but would love to be surprised.
It doesn’t matter—they always manage to keep their star players, and I highly doubt the German league is worse than the Spanish league. Their 5th place team from last year literally made it to the Champions League Final. Sure, we have a stronger league here, but I don’t think that’s a big argument when you’re already playing for such elite clubs and are pretty much constantly in the Semis of the Champions League.
