James McAtee

Outstanding news, I was worried about this guy and having his head turned, but he made the sensible choice.

Looking forward to seeing him progress and with a lot of hard work, becoming a first team player.

I’m sure Paul Stewart was a blue growing up. Went to school in Northern Moor.

Hinchcliffe went to William Hulme and was from Sale and I believe he was neither red nor blue and had no real affiliation to either but then became blue through playing with Blue Star and the city youth teams.
Met Paul Stewart's City supporting brother in the Valley Lodge and he told me he was United as a kid but loved it at City

Brilliant news - I have high hopes for this lad (and Palmer, Lavia etc.)

Some involvement against Fulham would be great.

Best signing of the January transfer window , he has masses of potential and Pep is the manager to nurture his talent for the next couple of years , along with Palmer and Foden we could save ourselves up to £300m in the transfer market if they all continue to progress

Three years is a compromise I think, Palmer signed for five but James obviously wanted more evidence of a clear pathway. So this seems to suit both parties.
A year of physical growth and development will do him the world of good and if he gets opportunities and takes them, then he will no doubt be happy to extend again
It's for 4 years although I'm sure I saw 3 years somewhere myself. Perhaps it's a 3 year extension which would make more sense.

This summers outgoings could be interesting.

He seems to be alot more aggressive and goal oriented than Silva. Is McAtee a tempo dictator like Dave?
He certainly seems to have the same composure on the ball, intelligence and eye for a pass as Dave.

He does look bigger and stronger though, and like you say more of an eye for goal.

Whether he can dictate games like Dave did is another matter, in fairness other than Xavi and Modric I can’t think of a player in the modern era as good as Dave at that.

I guess McAtee is way too young to be dictating games at PL level anyway, but he looks like he has the intelligence, composure and technique required, and he couldn’t really wish for a better coach and set up to help him develop that side of his game.

I’ve not seen loads of him, but from what I have seen, he looks a very exciting prospect.
