James Milner

I for one am glad Milner is in our squad and he is a very important member.
However, I do think he's more valuable in central midfield than out wide.
He works hard wherever he plays, but his crossing is not great.
It was a great move by the manager to bring Nasri on yesterday when Zabba got injured and put Milner at right back.
A lot of managers would have considered that a risk but it certainly improved us.

Why do Mancini and England managers play him out wide then

One of those mysteries. He's much better in the middle.

Its an interesting one and I suppose you have to respect the managers but my personal preference is for him to play in a central position.
I suppose to be fair to Bobby, he see's him as a player who (and he is right) can play in a number of positions whch is great for us but I dont think it always helps the player.
It just happens that the so called vacancies in the team set up have been in wide positions.
I dont think for one minute, Milner would be in our everybody fit and available first eleven and I think he knows that.
I suppose that answers the question for Bobby and the same applies to a certain extent to England.
It isnt necessarily that he's better out wide, its more that he gets games in positions where City and England can be weaker.

We are a far more effective team with Milner playing and nasri out. Nasri and silva get in each other's way whereas silva and Milner complement each other

I think that we have far better passers of the ball who play in a more central role, I don't think Mancini trust him enough I suspect Milner has the poorest pass completion rate of our midfield lot
