James Milner

Perfectly boring hat trick for Jimmy coming up then....tap in with the left, tap in with the right, tap in header....

In seriousness, you know he could do a job up front. The lad could do a job anywhere, the personification of versatility.

Agreed. 2 other points: his movement off the ball is very good; and he will work his nuts off over the next 2 weeks to get himself ready for the challenge. His finishing has been somewhat erratic this year, but i think that's an aberration. He's generally been pretty good in front of goal - his clinical strike at Bayern last year being a standout example.

PMSL = Positive Milner Should Lead

So you think he should be captain in Vinny's absence aswell as play up front?

Good lad! I like your thinking!

ESPN just posted an article about how much of a "hard worker" he is.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.espnfc.us/blog/espn-fc-united-blog/68/post/2201813/top-tenner-premier-league-workhorses" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.espnfc.us/blog/espn-fc-unite ... workhorses</a>

Frankly, I'm sick of hearing James described this way. It's kind of a backward compliment, and he's better than that. In addition to being such a hard worker he also makes some great runs and puts in some pretty slick crosses. Is it because he's English that he only gets credit for his work rate and not his industriousness?

Find it strange that some would scoff at the suggestion that Milner could be used to lead the line in our upcoming matches. Especially as he has experience of playing as a striker in his early life as a professional footballer.

He'd certainly be a better option than yaya that's for sure. I sometimes wonder if some blues actually watch the game as yaya would make dzeko look like Sergio or tevez with regards work rate up front. He has many qualities but playing as a makeshift striker wouldn't be one I wouldn't have thought.

So has Mangala but even that suggestion is just as ludicrous. He is a useful player to have in the squad but he is a midfielder.

Is Colin Hendry not available for a short stint up front?

Or Jo? But it is too late to get International clearance for Saturday.
