If thats true then the club are basically praying Otamendi and Stones can be reliable, which is far from guaranteed.

Oh you are right with those teams but will those teams with a strong desire for the prem be willing to trust a young loan defender over somebody they have bought, again look at Muric, looked quality for us in the cups but a couple of novice errors and Forrest couldn't wait to get him out of the team.

And there you have it Muric has gone on loan and found the Championship a far higher level than the EDS he now has to adapt and up his game to a point he is good enough for our squad, our two young and inexperienced CB`s are not even as good as Tosin or Sadler

Pep has said it all along,think about it,we never panic buy,it's a 100m + investment buying a player,when eric is back in jan/feb,stones is fit now,we have nico,it's been the plan for months for dinho to be at the back,we have the 2 kids,stock piling in jan is just not practical

all the above are highly likely
None of our rivals will be in the market, meaning we will not get gazumped as we did on our last two CB transfers , we were after a CB in the summer and still are, there are plenty of clubs that need to sell, we can avoid an auction as so many of our rivals are in trouble with FFP, that will not be the case come summer, buying a defender in January has another quirk the four months of getting to know the players and manager usually means they start the next season on top form

Act desperate for a defender and we'll end up having to spend way over the top. Act like we're happy and we may get someone at an ok price.

Of course, if the defenders we currently have keep on making massive balls-ups, then it'll be clear to everyone how needy we are.

We are clearly weak in that area both in numbers and proven quality.

Ferny is weaker in that position for what he brings the team in his best position and this is likely to be his last year as a regular starter or his final season at the club per say.

Stones is always dicey to stay healthy and personal issues need sorting.

Oti is suspect in too many games unless he has proper cover and again was mooted to leave in the summer but VK retiring altered that , he might go also at seasons end.

We had the personnel and the quality to cover for some of the lack of depth in some positions in the past two seasons.

We are very suspect to the counter again like in Peps first season.

This season we should have replaced VK and bought in a leader who can organise and motivate like Liverpool did with VVD.

I love Silva and Ferny and what they have done for this team , legends of the club but for them to wear the captains arm band says a lot about what we need to do in the coming two transfers to retain the benchmark status.

Panic buying will cost a fortune in jan and we will be giving a 5 yr deal to a panic buy,seems like a good plan
