January transfer window

I just read in another thread that tixi stated after the CL draw that we wouldn't buying anyone in January. Is this correct? Very short sighted if true. Given that we are challenging on all fronts and picking up regular injuries I would have expected at least one or two quality additions who aren't in CL sides.

I think it is unlikely that we will buy in January.

and if we did we wouldn't tell the world of our intentions a month before the window.

According to the media we have the best squad in Europe, therefore there is no need to go and buy any player.

I thought there was money lined up for reaching the knockout stages? That makes more sense as that's a good marking point to see what we need to continue to push forward in all competitions. We've never been fully healthy so we do need a bit of protection, evenif it's off the radar names who can grow into our system.

I think we should take a hard look at Yann M'Villa, just like Fernandinho has an outside chance of making the national team. With M'Villa he will want to work hard to impress so he can get back in the good graces after being banned. Still young at 23 years old.

Hard to believe we let Zuculini wait until summer to transfer if we weren't going to buy in the winter. Unless he really is comfortable with Garcia and Rodwell as backups.

Transfer window

In the January transfer window i can't see City going for anyone, i don't really think anyone of any use will be available, and i don't see the point of buying for buying sake, but maybe we could do deals for the end of the season, if so i would like us to go for two quick fullbacks one left and one right, i don't think we need any other position filled, we have a good team and we don't need wholesale changes.

Re: Transfer window

I find it strange that not many people seem to feel an urge for us to sign another midfielder. We need other options to play in place of or alongside Yaya/Fernandinho.

Depending on their respective injuries, a right full-back is the only position requiring immediate cover.

Exactly this. With the amount of games left in both league and cups Zab is surely going to pick up another injury or tire at some point. Richards isn't a viable option for cover as he is made of glass. We could do with picking up a right back, even on loan. I am surprised people can't see this.

IMO it is all down the squad size restrictions of 25 players. From memory we are on the limit as far as players are concerned and if we sign a loan player for the rest of the season it is then a question of who drops out to accomodate him. I also believe the whole of the defence will be looked at in the summer possibly with a view to this not happening again (if you can ever guarantee such a thing). For me this is where our youth players should be stepping up to the plate and being counted.
