January transfers

Just stay away from the fraud Barkley please, at least at the prices mentioned. In the one fixture you'd expect him to step up he was ineffective again today.

Could ee afford both Koke and Pogba, especially if Yaya did leave? I can see Jovetic, Kolarov, Milner, Nastasic, Demichelis and Caballero going.

If we sold all those, certainly. Pogba will be £50m-£60m, Koke about £45m unless Atletico accept a reduction on his release clause. But then you have to replace Demichelis (with a Pepe or Miranda), Kolarov (with a Kurzawa or Rodriguez) and Milner+Jovetic (with a De Bruyne/Reus/Isco, depending on where/what we want). Lopes/Kelechi could fill the other vacancy left by Milner/Jovetic and I suppose we could find a cheap keeper to replace Willy but do we really want Hart with even less pressure on his shoulders?

I'd go for Miranda, Rod, De Bruyne out of those mentioned. I really hope we get Koke now.

As for Barkley, he's turned out to be quite the dud this season. We'd just be buying him to fill a homegrown quota.

Something without question happening with edin, nasty, milner, sinclair, guidetti. With the negredo sale being used for bony plus what we had left over then maybe there is a biggy coming in. Edin £22m, milner £4-5m sinclair £2.5m guidetti £3.5m. Add the £12m we had left less £2m difference in the bony negredo fee would equal around £40m left. Koke maybe?

Not a chance Koke will move in January. Atletico fighting on all fronts.

The way I see it, we have a great chance in the summer to save some money and promote some deserving young players. Say we ditch Kolarov, we can then promote both Angelino and Maffeo and have them play backup for the fullback positions, with Sagna hanging around as the experienced option for both RB and LB if needed. Hell, in an ideal world we could sign a top quality leftback, then ditch Sagna as well and have Clichy as the experienced cover instead. Then you have Denayer along with Demichelis offering more realistic cover at CB than Boyata.

Say Milner goes, Lopes replaces him easily enough, without being such an ego/expectation of playing time, that it doesn't prevent our other young wingers from being able to challenge him for a place as well. I really think that next year we will have the players to fill 4 or 5 squad places with academy players, without any problems at all, letting us concentrate on signing top quality players instead of having to use the budget on squad fillers.

Obviously this probably won't happen and we'll probably blow our entire budget on Ross Barkley and keep all our ageing, ineffective squad players, while my optimistic outlook on our youth policy takes a severe hit!

;)

Here's one for you.
Milner & Sterling: why were they not playing today for City & Liverpool?
Holiday & Injury Precaution? Rubbish.

Milner to Liverpool with Sterling to City in return + £30m

is this wishful thinking or actually has some basis?

The stories just don't ring true. Just got a feeling...
