Interesting rumours only really players for development tho
There was a lot of doubt about Julián Álvarez on this forum when you bought him from River and look at him at 23 Argentina league,Copa Libertadores,English league,Mundial,Copa América,Champions League, World Club Cup.Let me tell you potentially El Diablito is on a different level.Hes very Young and really needs at least two more years in Argentina to mature as a man and playera but this pibe could be the Next Argentina 10 but with all the vultures and hanger ons looking for their cut he could be ruined.Hes much more Maradona than Messi and needs to learn at River before going to Europe.

He can't be transferred while his " betting" case is ongoing.
Philipps will be long gone before Paqueta leaves West Ham.
Regardless of the betting situation, I thought we were full from a foreign players perspective so if we sell or loan Phillips, do we have space in the squad to replace him with a none-English player ?

We actually have more English players than required so some are occupying 'foreign' slots so it won't make any difference who leaves , dot think we are even at 25 squad places so it doesn't matter if someone leaves or not numbers wise

I think the issue may be salary limit wise not player number wise

no we have an open slot even with Phillips.

So we agree we need a left back we agree he is a left back. I don’t know how good he is or who we should go for on the face of it he looks a good option though. Whoever we go for won’t be deemed a project by the people making the choice. That’s not to say we will go for the finished article. We tend not to even our very best players have had room to improve and not reached there full potential till after joining and have generally still been a few years younger than the peak years
Just based on what I saw of Maatsen last season, he's far from the finished article imo, & wouldn't fare any better than Gomez. That's not to say both can't improve.

Our need for a specialist left back is so great, I'd prefer us to go for someone established, who could be shadowed by a Maatsen or Gomez.
