Not a pressing need for him, to be sure, but if Guardiola envisages Gvardiol stepping into the midfield in the future, ala Stones, then a move for him might make sense. However, we do have other positions to address.

Surely a right side defender is better suited and we still have Akanji if Gvardiol is going to be moved into midfield.

There seems to have been a successful breeding programme. I actually think we need to sign someone with genuine pace, as, when it happens, Walker’s inevitable departure will only expose the overall slowness of others.

I wouldn't disagree on signing a replacement with geniune pace but the hardest part is identifying the player. Tront would be hilarious but I think that is a bit of a silly notion in more than one way and he is not in a situation in what Walker was in at Spurs.

Maybe one of the current set is going to leave or maybe the club think Branthwaite is worth buying now - thinking he could develop to be better than what we have?

I don’t see the need for him, but weve signed plenty of players in positions we are already strong in.
