Jason Denayer

Looking at the current season as a whole I have seen nothing from any of our centre backs that say we should ship him out for another 12 months. lets see how he copes against some of the lesser teams in the early season. Then give him whatever games he needs to develop either with us or on loan. He does not have to be on loan right at the start of the season and because of his age he doesn't have to be registered. Plenty of teams would snap him up well after the season starts. Play him in every game on tour and see how he compares with existing CBs.

My only question would be about his registration status for the squads, as he has only been a city player for 2 years heirs technically not homegrown yet. When Boyata leaves then we have 1 place available for a centre back so it may be a good idea to test Rekik for a year and send out Denayer on loan on the basis that he plays first team football for a full season and if Rekik works out he can replace Demichellis at the end of next season.

He'll still be under 21 so won't need registering, homegrown or otherwise. 2 years at the club is enough to qualify free in the CL if you're under 21 as well I believe, the 3 years only becomes important once you're 22.

I am unsure whether a loan to a Championship club would be beneficial (especially with him having Europa League experience already) but he is guaranteed game time and that is the most important for the lad at this stage of his career and it would help with the new HG ruling.

It makes no difference to the hg ruling.

I think it's madness sending him to the Championship. He is not very big for a cb & all it would need is a couple of missed headers, then he's on the bench for 6 months. He's a footballing cb not a Championship player.

If this is true, then if I was Denayer I'd just turn down the next contract offer from City in the summer & sign for someone else. He will get shedloads of offers. If they don't consider him ready for the Premier League, he should be playing at the absolute top level in another country, playing cultured football, not the Championship.

I find this hard to believe, but it is a joke if true, quite frankly & he should just tell City to fuck off.

Amazing how if he ends up leaving, we'd have wasted a centre back who imo is going to be class in the future yet we'll rely on demichelis and boyata

We need to get him to sign a new contract and give him assurances that he will be in the squad the following season as MDMs replacement, a loan to the championship will be good experience it's a tough league with a lot of teams at a similar level every season it's the smallest margins that decide promotion or heartbreak. He will learn a lot from it think a newly promoted team to the premier league would be better though.

The most important issue by far is his contract.

I’d take him on the post season / pre season tours, give him a run out with the first team and make him sign a 5 year deal. Where he plays next year is a bit of a side issue.

I suspect that won't be the case with him but I've got no worries about his contract anyway.

Unless it's not announced by the end of June...

Not only did he make the Scottish PFA team of the year, but also:

The awards keep rolling in for Jason Denayer. He has now been named @PFAScotland Young Player of the Year for 2015.

I can actually see a good few loan offers for him this summer, but personally I want him back at City.

We can't guarantee him the minutes if he spent next season with us.

Daily UKIP (erm Mail online) reporting City want him on loan in the Championship next season. This suggests we don't rate the pub league particularly highly.
