If he is that great at giving protection to the back four, why did we concede 2 goals? We've had many clean sheets with Ferdy and Yaya.

Why will none of his team mates pass to him? The game goes past him 80% of the time.

He will never be a player who will ever win MotM because he doesn't have it in him.

We need 11 players who have the ability to be a MotM. Garcia is never that player.

Don't ever say he's a Gareth Barry and people don't appreciate the work he does because he is not worthy of lacing Gaz Baz boots.

Still far from convinced his worth in the squad along with DeMichelles (Lescott worries me less than MdM bt)

You're a cheerful fucker, aren't you?

A real ray of sunshine!

What an unconsidered argument - one of their goals came from the wings, the other from a corner.

Also we haven't had many clean sheets at all this season.

the moaners always have to moan - how many goals do we need to score and how games do we need to win before people like you stop moaning? Sickening, always need someone to moan about

We conceded goals because our system pushes so many forward it's very prone to counters. It's a really simple thing actually to see that.

Why does he need to be man of the match? What a load of utter bollox. What we need is players who work together as a team, something we are clearly doing extremely well. We all know Garcia isnt the greatest player, but he is more than capable of doing a decent job against teams like Cardiff. Were playing the best football i imagine any of us have ever seen and yet you still feel the need to focus on the negative, even though there wasnt one yesterday.

Garcia is almost the football equivalent of a special team player in American football. He does one think very well.

Problem is that a special team player in NFL is only on for 30 seconds occasionally. You wouldn't have a brilliant punt returner playing cornerback on D.

I thought Garcia was much better today but we have got very greedy about the standard of players we accept. Our threshold is very high.

Who are his rough equivalents in other top teams and would we prefer them?

I've made the special teams comaprison in the past but it's not made to be taken completely literally: they are different games. The analogy is not about bringing someone on for 30 seconds...

I've also referred and even linked a Guardian blog piece about him being a screening player, which I think is te best description of him. He doesn't make lots of tackles or interceptions - although he made some crackers yesterday - but he does put up a barrier in front of the back line and I don't think much goes past him; when players do run past him though, it does look ugly.

He does his job dilligently and is very disciplined about it. His team mates often choose not to pass to him but he is at least there as an option backing them up. And when he does get the ball: he's calm, got a good touch and plays accurate well weighted passes to his cohorts.

I get truly fed up with seeing people say that he is shit. Even people whose views I often agree with come out with the line. FFS, if he was shit, Pellegrini would not have given him 90 minutes yesterday.

He wasn't MotM yesterday: that accolade really did belong to Yaya but Garcia did his job on the day as well as anyone.

Once again Garcia gets it in the neck for not being Gareth Barry or YaYa or Fernandinho .
Is it possible we can accept what he does as Javi Garcia - a player obviously trusted by Pellegrini to do exactly what he is told to do?
Some of this criticism is bordering on victimisation .

I'm not a Garcia fan, but I thought he had a cracking game yesterday. He was my MOTM.

a lot of football is not when you have the ball its what you do when you have,nt, which he does well he played well yesterday closing down space, if all our players just rampaged up front we would concede a lot more goals. imo
