Couldn't agree more I dont know why I bother clicking on the player threads anymore its just ppl slagging them off who either don't know watch football or don't know how to read the game at all. People slagged Garcia off for days on end when he joined. Its not easy to bed right into a completely different league speaking a different language and players u've never played with. He's gaining confidence because hes gotten a run of games and will only get better hopefullySWP...Legend said:Yeh no natural ability whatsoever?? Thats why Real Madrid scouted him as a youngster, why he´s been recently capped by the reigning World and European champions why he played for one of the most successful teams in portuguese history and why the English champions saw fit to buy him.
Some people don´t understand football.

He was awful early on. Now he's not as bad and people are making him out to be on the verge of being a great player or something. He brings nothing to the table creatively. He's scarred to death on the ball. Yes he wins the ball. Great. Did we need to spend 20 mil for a ball winner? De Jong did that. The whole idea of getting rid of De Jong was to bring in someone who was better on the ball. That ain't him.
This is the biggest fallacy of the de Jong transfer. He didn't want to stay. NDJ wanted more playing time and more money, we could offer neither. Javi is a ball winner, but not a tackler. The majority of his play is sitting deep and intercepting passes.
NDJ wanted more playing time, agreed, he also wanted to be paid the sort of wages on a par with his teamates, so that tells me he "wanted to stay" asking for an improved contract surely confirms this? Garcia looks like a chicken with no head, but much slower, I agree he's getting better, and if his improvement continues at the present rate i'd let him lace NDJ's boots in 3/4 years, Rodwell another disappointment and Sinclair he was told he could leave 5 mins after he joined . People on here mention the FFP and think that had something to do with NDJ leaving, but we practically gave him away and bought 3 other MF's for £40 mill and prob 3 times his wages. Madness

On par with his teammates? He wanted upwards of 100k. He is a third choice midfielder. NDJ wanted to stay on his terms, last I checked that isn't the way business works. I hope NDJ has a great career at Milan but his future here was limited. He is just not as tactically inclined as any of our other midfielders. For both Holland and us he has been burned by good passing.

I loved Nige but he was a limited footballer. Top clubs weren't exactly fighting over his signature.
Garcia has better technique, vision and distribution. Not only that but he's a beast in the air which helps us out in defending and attacking set pieces and can slot into central defence should he be needed.
It's taken a while for him to adapt, mainly due to the time he missed with injury but we're starting to see the qualities he has (we'll start to see it with Rodwell soon too).

Good post..
The only reason DeJong was so popular was because of his attitude and seemed a great guy, however he was very limited a a player, no pace, limited passing, no aeriel threat but was brilliant at tackling and chasing down the other team..
Garcia seems to have a bit more about him and wil get better the more he plays..
