Lets hope this paper are right regarding who we are signing.

Napoli forward Edinson Cavani, Malaga’s Isco, Sevilla’s Jesus Navas, Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fernandinho and Roma defender Marquinhos are Pellegrini’s five big targets, according to the newspaper.

One down 4 to go anybody know anything about this defender.

Supposedly in top 5 young defenders in the world or there abouts.

Swap Isco for Bernard and that is a stunning window.
Based on what? One youtube video lol

Yeah physical evidence of what a player is capable of and his inclusion in the Brazil squad and his young player award.
Ridiculous, eh.

Re: Jesus Navas

Looks like he has two good feet on him too, always a bonus. Some of those quick runs with good crosses were just what we've been missing at times. Appreciate that it's only a youtube video but if he can do it he can do it..

Re: Jesus Navas

Hes got to be an upgrade on either sinclair or adam johnson, also hes unlike any other player in our squad he will definatley play a big role

Far too good to be back up to Nasty and Kompany.

Re: Jesus Navas

I don't think the Adam Johnson comparisons are valid. Johnson was a dribbler with a nice cut inside shot. Scored a few really important goals for us with that. Sometimes had the beating of his man to fire in a cross, but he was a really nice direct wide player for us. He hugged the touchline at all costs, a true English winger, really.

Seems like Navas is a bit different. Don't see a ton of dribble moves in these videos, more of a stop start player who appears to be very fast. He's not hugging the touchline but is running from out wide. Seems like he's looking for the cross more than the shot.

In essence, we'd often switch field to AJ when the attack had fizzled and we wanted to try something else. If we were to do that with Navas then I think we'd be wasting most of his best abilities. I don't think he'd be brought on to try to beat his man against an already packed in defense, it seems pretty clear that he's more of a primary outlet you get the ball wide to when trying to attack with pace.

Disclaimer: This is entirely my opinion based on furious youtube research, which is obviously not a great way to learn about a player, but I can't say I've been watching much La Liga.

Hopefully we can put him on a good bulk up routine
No need to alter his physique as it may impede his performance.
Speed and Agility are survival mechanisms prevalent in those who aren't as strong.
Ergo, if you can't catch him, you can't knock him down
Of course speed and size are not mutually exclusive.

Didn't do Ronaldo or Bale any harm mate

£17m is a bargain for a World Cup winner. There are two deficiencies in his game

1) Goals. Our last winger AJ, had a lot of goals in him

2) Doesn't look that strong. There'll be times when he comes up against players like Baines and Bale, that he'll have to be strong defensively. Can he do that? Maybe he can. Looking at David Silva, you wouldn't think he could defend, but he can.

Looking forward to seeing the after-burners firing. He'll make David White look like Ricky Holden

1) it's true that he doesn't make goals easily. but he does create the opportunities

2) he's small but strong. if he has to defend , he defends. running the whole time back and forward if needed. that's what he did for Sevilla

There is overwhelming evidence that makes his point much stronger than yours.
I'll give you one: Champions League
