JO - Everton on Loan

Im a Blue, well the Darker shade of Blue.

I think its nailed on that Lescott will sign for City, not completely for the money either.

Sure he loves it at Everton, but in all honesty, at the best, we will finish 5th again, and thats going to be even harder than last season.

City / Villa / Spurs will all spend more than us, so will all be favorite's to finish above us, but they have been for the last 3 seasons, its upto these teams to actually get their act together, and put in a real challenge with us.

Lots of you really underestimate Everton on here, we stick with a wining formula, which we were forced into....real scouting of a player, and actually going watching him over and over...rather than just buying players on press reputation. which very rarely works if we are ALL being honest.

BUT, I just cant see how City can NOT become a real force in the Prem, Im not sure if Hughes is the best man for the job, you guys will know more than me. He doe's not seem to be a good man manager, and doesnt seem to get the best out of his players on many occasions.

One great example of this is Jo, his goalscoring was sublime at CSKA, and at 20 looked to become a star, joins City, and looks a joke, really looked out of his depth. Fast forward a few months, joins Everton, as if by magic, looks a player again, and a good one at that.

This is no magic trick or coincidence, Moyes man management skills, and the great team spirit and work ethic he has created at Everton is the reason behind this.

Just look at the rest of our squad, some superb players that would walk into any of the top 4, but also some average to decent players, that work in a system of Commitment, teamwork and togetherness.....something money can never buy.

I am quite jealous of the money City have, but thats were it stops.

I have no doubt that City will get better than they have been, and even make the odd Cup / League Title surge, but it is not a nailed on fact they will even finish in the top 6.

All this history bollocks, and big club this, and shite ground this, is all irrelivant, and all bollock.

City have always been a big club, in whatever terms, so too have Everton.

In this day of age, money talks....and City are a bigger Club than Everton, on that point alone!

I like City, proper Club, like us. Some knobhead fans....just like us, they seem to have passion for the shirt more than most other Clubs......just like us.

That passion is labeled as "Delusional", by other fans. But the fact is, nobody other than your fellow Clubs fans understand what it feels like to support YOUR club.

Fair and balanced post, welcome on board la ;o)

WOW! what a post!

just when i thought this forum was going tits up, we've got a sensible post, and its from an Everton fan!

really good points and everyone i agree with! Moyes has done a cracking job over there, you was unfortunate last season with Yaks injury added to Arteta, Cahill missing large chunks off the season and still managed 5th again.

You managed after you sold Rooney and you'll manage afetr you've sold lescott, if you get a good deal around £18m etc im sure you will get 2-3 good players from it so moyes will benefit

Exactly sublime at CSKA, fucking russian league. Hes never really has the strength to make it here although I wish Hughes would have given him a chance.

He has everything to make it at Everton though. He just needed a chance, and maybe an arm round him when he didn't start well.

Maybe Hughes just didn't really fancy him.

Lescott is a cracking defender, everyone can see that he would improve your team....he would iprove ANY team, thats what good players do.

If he moves to you, I would wish him luck, and your luck to be honest.

He has given us some great seasons, he owe's us nothing, he is not an Everton fan, he is a footballer.

And the deal of £15 Million (ish) and Jo, seems a good deal for ALL involved.

We all know that to be the truth mate. Its evident that Moyes can manage all types of personality. We had all been saying Jo just needed the belief and confidence again. Moyes did exactly that and you managed to produce a player who scored 5 in 12. With a full pre season I imagine you will get his full potential.

Lescott will benefit our team more than Jo but i do think we threw away a talent.

We can use the old cliche, thats what football is about. Not all players will work at all Clubs....Robbie Keane.....Shevchenkco, Bergkamp in Italy, Henry in Italy also....even Duncan Ferguson at Newcastle.

Its what makes it even harder to work in the modern transfer market.

The players you have signed all look great on paper, but its on that green stuff that it needs to work, and needs to work well. Its all really exciting the rumors and Sky Sports breaking every transfer story like we have a New King getting announced, but its once the ball is kicked is when the real business starts.

Jo will come good in time he was just never going to get htat with CIty with the new owners. It was a bad signing for us and the player TBH was never going to work out for him at city as we needed him to be the finished article.

I Think Jo and £14 million ish for Lescott is good business for both teams. They need another forward and the money should get them a solid right back and another centre half. So thats 3 players for 1 for a side like Everton which struggle for cash this has to be good business.

Thinking about it its more likely to be a permanent deal as Wolves have a decent sell on fee on Lescott. The less they get in cash the more they gain overall out of the deal. Also if he went on loan for a season and bangs in a load of goals, if the deal was not structured right we could always refuse to sell...

I think a big reason why Jo has been so lack luster for us is the tactics MH plays. He likes to play that modern almost Barca-like formation with one main out-and-out striker supported by two winger/striker types.
Jo's entirely incapable of playing the winger/striker type that Robinho plays, and he's also not comfortable playing as a lone striker in my opinion.
He's one of them strikers that wants another guy beside him that he can bounce off when needed...
