Max. 74 games at Valencia before being loaned to Inter Milan.

There seems to be a fair few fans from other teams who have been in for him in the past whom say he is over rated & his strengths are as an attacker and weaknesses are his actual defending, which doesn't fill me with confidence especially at that quoted transfer fee.

The main knock on him seems to be his consistency playing at a high level.

Plus, doing business with Juve will be an absolute nightmare, most likely similar to our dealings with Napoli in the past.

Mendes took him to Valencia when he was young because he was a potential superstar, and he was moving all his clients there because of his partnership with the Valencia owner Peter Lim. They couldn't afford him at the time so it was a loan with guaranteed purchase.

At first he was a bit weak and more like a winger playing RB. He had a breakthrough season in 16/17 and so Mendes moved him to Inter who were getting some big backing but again and going for CL football. Again they couldn't afford to buy him straight away because of their FFP issues, so they arranged a loan.

At Inter he did incredibly well, got in the TOTY and seemed to improve a lot defensively. Juventus swooped in and stole him off Inter because of this loan to buy arrangement meant they could.


He's a very good attacking RB, has a great eye for passes and good cross, gets forward well, but that hasn't always fit with Allegri's boring defensive football and he made some mistakes defensively in the CL.

It seems like a lot of money for me, but I do think as far as attacking RB's go, there's not anyone really better, maybe Perriera at Leicester but he's often a winger, or Kimmich but he's more of a midfielder.

Thanks for the explanation, it just seemed odd at face value, that he had a contract with Benfica then was loaned to Valencia, then when he had a contract with Valencia and was loaned to Inter Milan. Cheers

We do desperately need a very technical, attack minded right back.

Walker is brilliant defensively and we need his pace and strength BUT our weakness in possession is Walker, he’s the only one who looks out of his depth. That’s not an insult, it’s more a compliment to the rest of our squad that they’re that much better. Walker would be superb at any other club but our style exposes his weaknesses.

Wan-Bissaka is shit going forward. I know Dax will say "but he was a winger as a kid!" but that's irrelevant.

i can see how Cancelo and Walker would be a pair who offered different things. Wan-Bissaka and Walker are two defence first RB's who can defend large spaces, charge forward but can't do anything much when they get there. The only reason to play AWB would be Walker getting injured or tired or because he's better, and then there'd be no reason to play Walker.

Yikes! Why would you think I'll say this?

I know Wan Bissaka is a converted Winger, but he isn't or couldn't have been a good one. I've watched him going forward, doesn't have the crossing talent nor the movement skills. He is fantastic as a recovery defender.

Which Allan? And Rodri isn't really like Dihno. Yelled is Okay. Ziyech isn't on our radar. And Wan-Bissaka is more of a defensive stopper. We need offensive help.

I need a better attacking fullback. Wan Bissaka has shown great defensive capacity, but I'd look for a RB with a deadly cross and great overlapping skills

They both run hard, rely on Athletism, neither has very good ball control, both overrate their cross field passing abilities, they are both have that hurried style of play that causes mistakes and are both prone to errors. I

If he didn't do lots of fancy tricks, he'd be a slower Portuguese Walker.

That said, he is a good player just like Walker, but I don't think he'll add to us. I could be wrong. Perhaps he has 2 or 3 more gears to go that I'm not seeing, but the current guy I at us a Juve is a slightly slower Walker with better dribbling.

Like I said to Birch, I'll grant he is a technically superior player in the most technical sense of the word. He'll be an upgrade on early season Walker, not late season though.
