Joe Hart (continued)

In the absence of a better alternative the smart and brave way to help Joe back to form would have been to keep picking him. It will be 3 weeks since his last competitive match when he turns out against the Germans tomorrow - some preparation. The notion that being benched restores confidence and improves performance is frankly bizarre.
If a player isn't mentally there, and I think his performances were that of a mentally tired player, and given he's played almost non stop since he returned to City, its not surprising, then of course its right to drop him, as Pellegrini did, it will have focussed Hart's mind, and he'll be back better mentally. Great that he starts tomorrow, it should be a busy game for him, if he plays well then he might well be selected against Spurs.

Re: joe hart

Lets set a few things straight.

Before he was dropped, the majority said Hart should be dropped.

Since he was dropped, there has been a lot of voices saying he shouldn't have been. In fact it's all we've heard, seen, read etc...

There is a great deal of irony in David Seaman, Paul Robinson, Joe Corrigan and the likes doing paid interviews saying he shouldn't have been dropped and that there's too much pressure on him, seemingly oblivious to the fact that their very discussion of the topic is adding to that pressure. (either that or they want the ca$h)

Re: Pantilimon. He is not very good. He isn't rubbish either. But he's no great shakes. Everyone knows he's not as good as Hart. He is even worse than Hart at distribution which is saying something and in the few things he has had to do in the quiet games he's had, he's had some dodgy moments. (eg. dropping the ball when coming out to collect v CSKA, beaten from narrow angle shot by Bardsley [a skill of Hart's is those narrow angles shots]).

Hart will be back in the starting XI by Christmas.

I'd personally do it against Spurs.

If Pellegrini doesn't do it this weekend, it will definitely happen very soon. Pantilimon is only round the corner from a big rickett.

Re: joe hart

Question - should Joe's performance tomorrow form part of Pelly's decision as to his future?

Whenever I've commented on Joe's form , I've always included his England games, but the pro Joe lobby largely dismiss them as irrelevant.

If he has an absolute blinder or a stinker tomorrow it should be taken into account.

Re: joe hart

I think Pants should and will keep his place against Spurs and until he drops a few clangers

Why anyone expects Hart to be treated any different from Pants beggers belief.

Pants has waited for his chance and Hart must do the same end of

Yes Joe's form for England should be counted. The clue is in the word form.

And yes Joe should have been dropped. A Sunday league keeperbeouldnhave struggled to get away with that run of mistakes. Tomorrow night is an opportunity for Joento force his way back into contention and I hope that he takes it.
