Maybe so.

But will Pep change his preferred style - the style he started at Barca and persisted with at Munich? Probably not.

Will Hart somehow develop extreme talent on the ball and become a sweeper? Probably not.

So even if Joe does start between the sticks next season, I can see Pep growing increasingly frustrated with him in spite of Joe's excellent shot-stopping ability and pretty good/constantly improving distribution and consistency.

I think that if Joe starts as our number one next season, Pep will try very hard to replace Joe in the summer window. If that fails, I really can't see Joe being here two years hence (and to be clear, I really like Joe and think that he's been world class last season (by which I mean, top 10 in the world) - this is not at all a criticism of Joe - but rather a recognition that Joe doesn't fit into Pep's philosophy at all).

For me, Ter Stegen isn't nearly the shot-stopper that Joe is - and TS suffers from inconsistency just as Joe does - probably more-so over the last season. There's a good reason that Bravo is the Barca number one.

However, TS is extremely good on the ball - Joe will never get anywhere near as good IMO.

But people seem to think pep can make other players better why not hart? Also Hart will only go to a champions lge club not Everton who would not spend 40m on a keeper! Also selling Hart would put pep straight on a collision course with the fans and he won't want that!

Pep can improve players through motivation and by building on their strengths.

Hart just isn't a sweeper though - IMO - no matter how much motivation you give him.

And yeah - I don't think that Hart would at all be willing to be sold to Everton.

And I don't think we'd want to sell him to a top EPL club.

Would we, for example, sell to Arsenal - wow, that could be a huge, huge mistake in the title race... I really don't think that this is a good idea and for that reason, I doubt our management would make such a sale.

So if we did sell Hart - which I maybe 60% or so expect - I think it would be to a non-EPL, CL side.

Spain:
Barca? no - they want a sweeper.
Madrid - no - they are semi-happy with Navas but would kill for De Gea.
Atletico - maybeish. But their keeper seems at least OK.

Italy:
No clue
Juve is probably happy with Buffon for the nonce.
Other sides... don't know.

Germany:
Bayern: No way.
Other sides - maybe, don't know.

France:
PSG - maybe, don't know. And would Joe want to play in the French league?

So though I don't think that Joe will be with us two years hence, I really don't know where we'd trade him - not being familiar enough with the keepers in the other leagues.

I'll be honest, I just don't get it. I could just about get my head around the idea that Pellegrini came in and seemed to be more interested in defenders being comfortable on the ball than being able to defend (that worked out well) but to take that to the extreme of being more bothered about a goalkeeper being comfortable on the ball than his ability to stop the ball going in his net is absolutely fucking potty IMO. I'm obviously an old fuck who needs to get with the times.

Another thread of Joe bashing, my god you lot are boring the crap out of me.you want to bring in a player who can't get into the Barca team and when he does play he doesn't impress . Or is it that Joe Hart doesn't sound blingy enough has some foreign names.

LOL.

So did you read this thread?

Do you think that Joe is a world-class sweeper?

What part of the "Joe is a world-class keeper this season" did you miss?

He goy lucky with Nuer he can do both comfortably I'm with you on the stopping the ball going in the net if Hart adapts and improves on the ball he will be as good as Nuer

Let's see what he is like after a few months of playing behind a back four who actually want the ball and make angles to receive the thing.

for all the points made here , i definitely think Joe gets a season comfortably ... pep sees how he adapts to his vision and then he takes it on from that

personally i hope Joe steps up ( as he has done previously) and is the goalie pep wants ..

This all day.
Not the best choice by Pep to get the fans onside either if he axes Joe without giving him a chance. Indeed if half the team had played as well a Joe last season we'd have walked the league - so there are at least 10 players who should be in the firing line before Joe.

Mediocre on the ball.

It's one thing to be extremely skillful on the ball and not having anyone to pass to - and quite another to be average/average-minus on the ball and not having anyone to pass to.

Hart is clearly in the later category for me.

We need to improve on a lot of positions - so maybe Hart survives this season - but baring a completely unexpected massive turn around in on-the-ball ability - I can't see Hart here next season.

And for the record - Hart is for me - a top-10 keeper in the world this season. But he doesn't fit Pep's style at all.
