Joe Hart

Good shot stopper but distribution is dire.

Agree. It's something that should be able to be improved easily though.

Also, his cockiness in waiting ages when being closed down to kick the ball is a problem as he often kicks it straight out of touch then.

Next season could be very interesting for Joe - instead of a team structured around the defence in the Italian/Mancini style - apparently Pellegrini will set the team up in a much more attacking fluid style . I will be interested to see how much of the defensive responsibility will be shouldered by Joe/ Vinny/ Nasty without so much coaching input .
I think it could be a huge season at the back for us and I think we may be looking at conceding a few more goals than we're used to.
Joe Hart is like many of the current crop of young keepers - very good positional sense and excellent shot-stopping abilities but glaring weaknesses coming off his line and dealing with high balls/ crosses. Goalkeepers are the boss inside the penalty area , and they must be in total control of that space ( I was a keeper from school up to junior league level many years ago and this was drummed into me constantly)
Still wouldn't swap him for anyone else though !

Seriously can't believe how many people are critical of Hart. He's hands down the best keeper in the league. His shot stopping is superb, his one on one challenges are the best since the red nose Dane, he's good on crosses and he's pass success is over 60%, not bad to say the majority of them are over 40-60 yards. Too many fans just love a moan about something, who's next, vinny ain't been great by his own standards this year nor has silva, or aguero, but as I say, it's their own incredibly high standards you measure them against. One average season and people are demanding replacements.
Realise it's a bit of a rant, but iv had it all season off muppets who sit near me, the best was a fella screaming for us to swap him for de gear.

golden glove-again
part of best defence-again
let in least number of goals-again
needs a good number 2 to push him
will have a new coach and will learn what he needs to do better
still very young

would not change him for anyone

Or we could do both as we did in the title winning season. A great defensive record and banging the goals in the other end. Good defensive discipline allied with fluid attacking play is attainable as we have done it before and there should be no reason why we cant do it again.

A well drilled defence with a misfiring attack will get you so far (in fact last year it got us 2nd) and one hopes that 3 years of Mancini drilling the defence will not be lost overnight so a bit of tinkering with the attack could prove fruitful.

- he's good at crosses??
