joe hart

i'm fiercely loyal to Joe, but the mistakes seem to be coming too frequently even for me, i think he needs a good old fashioned kick up the arse, let Panti have a go, get some good performances in and show Joe that he needs to buck his ideas up if he wants to stay number 1 for the foreseeable future

I could take either decision when it comes to Hart. If Pellegrini decides to back Hart, I'll support it. If he decides to give Pantilimon a run, I support it. Both sides of the argument make sense.

I'm not sure I buy this argument. I can't think of any club that has two top quality keepers fighting for the No1 spot. Most clubs just have a No1 keeper and back up.

What does Pants have to do to prove himself?

Just askin like.

Pants is one of those players who seems to get better on here the more he doesn't play. Those calling for Pants to replace Hart will be in for a shock as he is a far worse keeper. The first Bayern goal that Hart got a hand to and should have done better with Pants wouldn't have even got down in time to get a hand on it. His strength is his height so he can claim the ball from corners but low down shots he gets down like a wardrobe.
I'm not so sure...

Do you remember the save against Arsenal in the Carling Cup?

Do you remember him saving the corners twice against Bayern in pre-season?

I'm not sure even Hart at his best had the ability to save those.

Valdes has been one of the best Goalies the last 3 years. Never gets his due. On the transfer forum some called him shaite and being a Barca prop up. I say they haven't been watching. Barca doesn't concede many chances, but when they do it is often clear on goal, 1 v 1. And Valdes has snuffed more than a great goalie's fair share of those Chances.

Better yet, what I like most about Valdes is his alertness. He can be idle all game, then pull off a magic save for the one chance of the opposition. Joe on the other hand seems to need to be under pressure all game. And then he'd warm up to making fantastic saves. Even at his best for City, it was in games when we were being pelted all game, and Joe is busy diving all day. But in games where he has nothing to do for long periods, he seems to lack the mental toughness to wade through the boredom and stay alert for that one magic save he needs to make to keep City in it.

Valdes has that quality in droves.
Valdes is a good keeper.

His shot-stopping is underrated with the odd magic.

What I like about him best is his passing. He singlehandedly starts Barcelona with an extra midfielder in every game.

His ground passes often bypass 2,3 players, starting an attack.

His passing is truly class and gives his team the perfect hub from which their ball domination stems.

It pained me to tonight to see Joe just hoof it back to Bayern every time when Clichy or someone else was unmarked for the short pass. Mind you, this is at a time when our team is struggling to possess the ball, but our thick keeper can't realise that he is exacerbating the situation by conceding possession to Bayern.

Fernandinho at one time in desperation to try to get some possession ran all the way to edge o Hart's box for the goal kick, only for him to ignore and hoof it. Bayern won the ball back that possession (as all night), that's why I remember because I was furious at the time.
Yeah, I remember that too. Coz the camera went to a wierd angle changed, at first from the side where you see Dihno running towards our goal, then it focused on Joe with Dihno coming into the picture, Joe hoofed it and it went back to the wide picture and you could see Dihno now in no mans land looking like a CD, I think Lahm or Dante simply headed that ball sideways to Alaba and a new offensive trust began. It really was a depressing sight :(
Sigh...I know :(

don't want Valdes, he's not good enough at any aspect apart from shot stopping and distribution, which is all Barca need him for most of the time.

Aerially he's poor, claiming catches etc. and he's not commanding.

Casillas is the better option, Cech or Courtois, Chelsea will have to pick sooner rather than later and we would do worse than get the spare.

Other options include Reina and Julio Cesar.

This is Joe's first serious dip in form for the past 3 or 4 years and it's fuck all to do with his hair product promotions.

Perhaps it will take a spell on the subs bench or perhaps it will take a period of perseverance from both Pellegrini and Hodgson. He'll eventually come through the difficult times but not before the media has taken large unsightly chunks out of his confidence.

What he doesn't need is crucifying from his own fans, especially some of the gobshites on this forum. Get behind him and cheer him on FFS!!

I don't think its just gobshites criticising him. Its legitimate concerns based on a whole range of things, not just the ever increasing mistakes.

But its a good point, if he's in the side on Saturday (and I expect him to be) we should be supporting him.

Anyone remember the ovation David James got after a cockup for England? These sort of things can make a difference.

I said "crucifying" not "criticising". I found reason to criticise him after his performance on Wednesday. Some of the vitriol aimed at him on Wednesday on this forum was uncalled for.

The worrying thing is he is now getting beaten by shots most average keepers would turn around the post like the two last night from Ribbery and Robben.
