Good call by Pellegrini, had to be done. Joe's a big man, in every sense, and he needs to spend some time on the bench, get some distance from what's going on on the pitch, look and learn, and generally get his head sorted. However, he must be given a chance to play himself back into the team, and that obviously means cup matches. Tricky question, then: who plays the CL? Can we really put Pants in for those games? I doubt it , myself.
If Pants does well enough in the PL games then he should play in the CL.
A lot of people here seem to have forgotten he is the Rumanian national keeper. He is no novice and should have the experience to play CL football.

Actually, he just got dropped from the Romanian national team.

Fair play. I suspect it may have something to do with the fact they haven't seen him play for months....
Either way, he has played at top level before.

What' s the chant tomorrow then - Romania's No. 2 ? Has got a certain ring to it.

Don't even think there was much of a decision to be made. Hart's form has made him to all intents unplayable.

If the rumours are true, then that's fantastic.

It would set a terrible precedent if a player is in such poor form (not even sure form is the right word at this point), yet can keep their place.

If you play well enough, you should generally be rewarded with a start. For similar reasons, Dzeko should start Sunday.
Some very obtuse humour in that last paragraph.

Play well enough
Dzeko?
SUNDAY?
i meant tommorow obviously...wouldn't be the first honest mistake a human has made.

& yes Dzeko...he just got an assist and goal. He's made a case to start the next game.

I thought they now did training behind closed doors at the Etihad the day before the game? In which case, someone blabbed.

Fuming for what? Tad immature if true.

The media won't be all over him now he's out the side. But they would have been if he was playing tomorrow. That maybe part of the rationale behind this decision.
It will be nothing but questioning Joe's position in the England team and whether he should go to Brazil etc while he's on the bench and then when he comes back to the first team he'll be under more scrutiny in that first match back than ever before.

No escape really

I know I will be shouted down but as a player do you wnt to be city's no1 or England's no1. We are interested in hart or costa being at the best for us. I couldn't give a shit about the national side
As a football player I'd want to be both to be honest.

There's no Way he can be fuming, it's not as if he's been harshly treated.

He might be upset but that's entirely different.

Joe is a bright guy and a committed team player. He knows the score and he knows he's been on thin ice for weeks now.

If that's true then he really has got too big for his boots, no player is undroppable if he doesn't cut it on the pitch and Joe has survived a few poor games already.

That is so true DD, Joe does know the score. Personally I wouldn't believe anything the press says and will wait until the team is announced an hour before the match.

And as someone else has already said, last season when things allegedly came out of the dressing/training room people were saying the then manager had 'lost the team' and there was dissent etc.etc., but now it is alright? Puzzling!!

id be more worried to who's leaked it from within the team if true...you can see from pellers press call that he wont give the journos out to get there horrible little mits into,so for me its come from within

Re: Joe dropped?

media leaks are what's wrong with football today. if its true and been leaked from inside the club then its should be sorted out right away
the manager did a interview and said nothing but wait until tomorrow so its making him look bad if its true

I still think joe should start the game vs Norwich but pants is good to come in and he should start more games in the league with both keepers getting the game time to keep them match fit

but you are only a mistake away from the crap in the media and papers with a man city or manager. they are working harder then ever to have a pop at Manchester city and the next target is in the waiting with fingers at the ready on the scum of the press computers keyboards
