John Guidetti: 20 goals and 6 assists in 23 for Feyenoord

Hopefully he will get over this for next season.

Expecting a year at one of Swansea, Wigan, Reading, Southampton, WHU (depending who is in the prem) before coming back to City to fight for his place.

Remember the dutch league isnt exactly A-Grade football, he will need another year before he is ready for us.

John is already good enough to be one of our 4 strikers if that's what we go for next season but the key question is whether he would be prepared to be 4th choice. That's a tough one for both parties to consider.

A loan to another prem club is an option and maybe it would be good for him in the sense of further developing him for City to find out how good he is.Again though is it the right thing for his career?

You're right, the Dutch league is not at the same level as the PL. But on the other hand Feyenoord is a great club for him to develop:

-Feyenoord plays on the opponents half most of the time, just like City. Bottom clubs in the PL play defensively most of the time. They will not use Guidetti's qualities right.
-He could play in the Europa League and perhaps in the CL next season with Feyenoord.
-He'll be the first striker for sure and playing for 50.000 spectators every two weeks.
-Feyenoord coaches Ronald Koeman (one the best players in Dutch history) and Giovanni van Bronckhorst (Dutch captain during the last WC) could teach him a lot.
-He's really enjoying life in Rotterdam.

Of course, sending him on loan to a bottom club in the PL also has it's advantages, but these factors above are not guaranteed at Bolton, Reading, Southampton etc. So it's up to City to decide what's most important.

Guidetti may be succeeded next year by Denis Suarez. Feyenoord's technical director met with Brian Marwood on derby day and watched the reserves game against KV Mechelen. Feyenoord are quite keen to loan Denis Suarez. Feyenoord are desperately looking for an attacking midfielder and striker and it seems that they will be making an offer soon. Feyenoord's technical director mentioned he noticed 3 very interesting players playing in the reserves but singled out Suarez in the Dutch press.

Great news, would be an excellent loan for Suarez as long as he gets lots of time.

According to the Swedish medical team John Guidetti will not be fit on time. So he is NOT on the list of 23 players national team coach Erik hamren revealed. On the list are many players from the Dutch League and Guidetti is better than most of them. So his illness is the reason for his absence.

Hamren: "There was no chance that Guidetti would be able to take part due to an injury."

Pity for City, but especially sad for John. He was really looking forward to it.

"I think that John can be as good as Zlatan Ibrahimovic," Koeman said to Voetbal International.

"I've coached them both. Zlatan struggled a lot more than John to find his way in Netherlands. John is on the same level as players such as Wesley Sneijder and Rafael van der Vaart at that age.

"That's great for a striker, because it's a very difficult position.

"He arrived at the club and immediately adapted to his new surroundings, even though I don't think he had ever played in a formation with three attackers before.

"If you're capable of that at the age of 19, and can be this important for a team, you're going to become a big player. Simple as that."

High praise indeed,he must have really come on since those nights at Hyde..... A real shame he wont be showcasing at the Euro's.

City NEED Guidetti to be a success as a City player and they need to give him a chance otherwise what will the other youngsters start to think? They're not stupid, they'll have seen some of his games, read some of the rave reviews and if he doesn't get his chance, they'll start to think about where their futures lie and whether they'll get a chance. Then again, the big factors regarding him get a chance are his recovery from this illness and then ultimately his attitude.
