He's too slow, no pace whatsoever.

Will score for fun in Holland and in the Championship, but won't make it at City.

you dont need pace, look at rvp, rooney, ibrahimovic, van nisterooy, all succesful strikers with not much pace

You are saying RVP has no pace, Rooney?

Bloody Hell, they are like shit off a shovel.

Ibrahimovic doesn't need pace for the obvious reason of his height.

Pace is what matters at the highest level these days, especially up front.

I'm not saying Guidetti is a bad player, he has good technique, but physically, he is at least a stone overweight and isn't going to find those extra two yards as a starter for us.

As for Van Nistelrooy, you are talking about a striker who over three yards (inside the penalty area) was probably the quickest since Van Basten

Guidetti is not a sloth either and is at least as fast as Ruud so that does not wash one bit.

Using your logic Kun is not good enough as over a distance he is caught pretty easily but has a fast turn of pace in a tight corner.

The lad has earned his chance at having a crack at the big time imo.

I respect others opinions this is just mine and i think it holds well against any counter arguement as it stands.

To simply dismiss him due to him not being lightning quick is very narrow minded imo.

none of them are exactly quick, if you think that you need pace to be a succesful striker thats like saying if your small you cant be a succesful player - ie swp. He is not a stone overweight have you not seen pics of him recently. you can be succesful and not be blessed with tonnes of pace theres plenty of examples

Mate, not sure what your definition of quick is? Van Persie is rapid and Rooney can sustain a burst of acceleration over 30 yards.

I watched the boy against Ajax only last week and it appeared as though the entire Feyenoord team were overweight.

The Dutch league is relatively slow, all about technique, and yet the lad still looks cumbersome.

Just like Silva was to slight and would not make it here.

I seem to remember a certain dutch chap called Ruud who seemed to do alright as a striker also inspite of his lack of pace.

And for every Van Nistelrooy, Bergkamp and Luis Suarez to come out of Holland, there is a Samaras or a Alfonso Alves.

Move him back over here on loan to a Wolves, Villa, Everton, and make a better view.

agree with loaning him to another prem club, but the whole point is he isnt samaras or alves is he ? we cant write him off just because others have failed

My only point being we can't use the Dutch league to be a proper barometer of where the lad currently stands.

Samaras and Alves scored for fun over there.

players like van nisterooy, rvp and sneijder all played in the dutch league and became top players, it doesnt really matter what league you play in as long as your good enough

Again, it's all about opinions. Aguero is absolutely rapid over 15-20 yards.

Guidetti clearly knows where the goal is, but in the Premier League, for a top four club, I
think he needs to get on somewhere else.

Why would he require pace to be our 4th choice striker?

Considering the way we play, and how deep teams sit against us, he doesn't really need to be lightning quick because we hardly get behind teams. He's hardly slow anyway. Just has average pace.

He's a finisher, and considering he's won the vast majority of the penalties he's scored, i'd imagine he is nippy enough over a few yeards, or at least has a turn of pace.

Writing a 19 year old off after he's scored 3 hat-tricks in 4 games in the Dutch League.....deary me.

There's plenty to like about him.

Re: John Guidetti: 17 goals and 5 assists in 15 for Feyenoord

at 19/20 you can be good for a top club only if you are at least as good as a balotelli. guidetti ATM is far far from it.

It's good form for a youngster, but means sweet FA in our league. See how he goes in his next pre-season that's all I'm saying. I hope he does well as a 4th striker, but that will mean 5 games at most.

Suarez scored 35 in 34 league games two seasons ago in the same league. He's scored 10 in 33 for Liverpool so far.

Tbf, Suarez is carrying Liverpool atm. If he was playing for us, tottenham or the rags he would have twice as many chances. He clearly does need to work on his finishing, but he has the all round game.

The way we dominate games and teams park the bus someone like him is ideal don't need pace just tell him to stay in the box

^ Exactly. I don't really buy into the whole 'he doesn't have pace' in the first place, but as things stand we don't play counter-attacking football so what real use do we have for pace? Teams seem to be parked on the 6 yard box anyhow. What we need is someone who can be a focul point in attack - yes like Dzeko - and allow Balotelli/Kun to roam. Guidetti can be like Chincharito for us and make damn sure that if an opportunity comes our way we score.
