Cant think of a reason why crossbows are legal, or why anyone would want one even without any lethal intent, and I hope there is robust legislation brought in to ban them

Wonder if he’ll get a whole life order despite pleading guilty. A precedent was set with Couzens so I expect he will.

I was ambivalent about the Couzens sentence, because I felt it would discourage other defendants from pleading guilty where the evidence was overwhelming and thereby not putting the family through the trauma of the trial, despite a whole life tariff being otherwise completely appropriate.

He must have been warned about it happening here and still pleaded guilty so that theory clearly isn’t perfect, not that I expected it to be. Maybe he doesn’t want to face up to it himself.

Terrible business. The suffering those women must have endured in their last moments must have been unbearable.

Because this is a thread about John Hunt who lost his wife and 2 daughters in a violent incident. There was never any terrorist link to these murders, I worked at the same company as John many years ago, I didn't know him well but had a beer or two with colleagues after work in London in the early 90's, he was a lovely fella as were all the broadcast people and commentators. They lived and loved their jobs, imagine coming home to the horror he encountered, just horrendous, I'll leave it there.

Fair enough, can see it’s personal to you. Most murders are heinous. I was merely asking why motive was allowed to be debated in line set of mass murders and not another.
