John Hunt Radio 5 Live - Family Murdered

There really are no words to express the horror of this. My thoughts are with John and his daughter and their family and friends.

Disappointed with itv news last night, after 3 hours of football the main story was about the match and not this, at least BBC news led with it then went back to the match.
Football is and always should be distraction from reality all be it a great distraction.
I remember a staunch socialist putting me in my place back when city won the league cup in the seventies and I thought it was the best thing in the world, son he said "football was invented to occupy us on the weekends so we don't notice how shit our daily grind in factories and mines (us) really is"
I thought what a miserable fucker he was and couldn't understand why City wasn't the greatest thing ever. He didn't support anyone and didn't dislike football, he just saw it in a different way.
Almost 50 years later (and it could be an age thing) he gave me a perspective that I can enjoy the ups and downs of football but it has to be in it's place.
What happened to this family yesterday was a terrible thing to happen to any family and no matter who or where they come from, it was bigger news than the match.

I worked for SIS who broadcast UK racing around the world for 11 years up until 2001, I visited the studios and head office in Corsham Street in London on many occasions. John Hunt, Errol Blyth and Bob Cooper were three of the free lance commentators who worked there. Before they did their afternoon commentary's they'd sit amongst the rest of the broadcast staff, colouring in the jockey colours on each race, that was their reference point but by doing so helped them remember the colours.

They were all just decent, down to earth, working class lads who'd share a beer in the Marie Lloyd after work.

Just normal guys, living a life a little more exciting than most achieve. I remember John as being a really nice fella not that I knew him that well. RIP to his wife and daughters he'll never recover, he has to live with this for the rest of his life as does his one remaining daughter. String up the bastard who did this, he deserves no compassion.

Apparently the youngest daughter at 25 was in a relationship with him. The mum and two sisters were tied up for 3 hours before being shot in the chest with a crossbow by this lunatic. They were found by John Hunt on his return from work at about 7.00pm and were all still alive but they all died at the scene.
Truly horrifying.

Apparently Louise had broken up with him a week earlier.

Chapman is a good bloke had the pleasure of a pint in his company last year spoke very highly of City.I know he is a united fan but was very balanced with his opinions.
He is one of the few red media who is actually ok on things City. A genuine bloke. I must admit, I was welling up a bit myself listening to him there. :(

His brother is inside for murder. Bet their parents were real winners.
The old adage about the apple not falling far from the tree isn't always the case. Sometimes the parents can be really sound people who were unfortunate to have real swine for children. Not saying that's the case in this story, as I haven't really read too much about it, past the headlines.
