I can't believe Motson is still commentating, I honestly thought he was going senile about 6 or 7 years ago!

Yet some football fans call him a legend. (I have heard people say this).
Used to switch to ITV if both terrestial channels were showing the same match, cup final/internationals.

Ah, Gubba...the master of the unconvincing over dubbed commentary (on a game that happened earlier that day).

Gubba: “Twenty minutes gone and there’s still no score. <insert name of midfielder> … <insert name of striker> … can he score ….yes … he scored...a very well worked goal there...”

Then they used to pan to another match on MOTD which he’d over-dubbed. They seemed to think we’d not notice that he couldn’t be in two places at once!

He used to like us and enjoyed Maine Road. He's a Charlton fan from that area, I think.

Ruins the otherwise excellent Monday Night Club. You don't have to agree with it all. I quite like Claridge now as it's his job to slag us [it's comedy] but he can take the shit he gets as well. Barnesy was spot on as usual.

Shame as Motty was a great commentator but, like many people when they get old, has become highly judgmental and bitter. As he would say, 'Oh dear...'.

I listened to him for a couple of minutes whilst driving last night. He doesn't seem very impressed with us.

Funnily enough I've never been very impressed with Motty.

I totally agree.

I preferred him to Barry Davies who alway had 20/20 hindsight. Motson didnt seem to take himself as seriously, at least not on air. I think all commentators run out of steam eventually, end up replaying previous commentaries.
