and its the only mistake/ lose of concentration ( 120 minutes/ maguire at fault swell) that he made all tournament.

No it wasn't, sure he got caught daydreaming on the ball in midfield with about 10 mins to go in regular time and Croatia should have done more with that opportunity.

I think he'd a good tournament, as did Maguire.

But don't act like he was flawless.

The guy has lots of talent, he's proven that. He also has one f**k up in him every 90 mins. We have to accept that because that is the most consistent thing about him to date in his career. And before you get all defensive on him again, I firmly believe he's gotten nowhere near his ceiling and we'll see a better Stones every year for the next 3 or so, but that error will always be sat there waiting to be exposed.

there isn't a cb around who doesn't have a flaw waiting to be exposed, it's called being human

Not at the rate Stones has them. He mentally switches off at times. I don't think that is something that can be coached out of him either.

So I do believe he'll get much, much better in other areas and become regarded as world class, but those brain farts are gonna be there every single game.

they aren't though, you're just exaggerating. Considering he was doing young's, maguire's, trippier's and henderson's jobs for them for most of the tournament it's unsurprising that he eventually makes a couple of partial errors.

Give over will ya. Maguire had a fine tournament. Trippier, fine. Young, fine defensively.

Even if I was to take your comments on merit, what about the 20 or mistakes he's made since signing for us?

I guess this is the part where you say I'm exaggerating too. Last season alone I can think of Everton in the season opener and Liverpool away and that's without giving it too much thought. He was also out injured for a huge chunk of last season or wasn't a starter. Season before, he easily had 12-15 errors(whether they lead to goals or not is another thing).

He's error prone. I'm happy to accept that's the trade off for his talent the other 99% of the time, because he's a bloody good footballer in this system. But don't act like he isn't.

because you're exaggerating. maguire and trippier were only fine because they were covered and nannied by stones and walker. young was shite defensively all tournament and couldn't handle a half fit Croatian fullback so it's a blessing we don't have to suffer him against mbappe

stones is no more error prone than ramos, pique, boateng, kompany, otamendi, umtiti et Al. yes, he makes errors, but like raz I'd rather have a special talent who makes the occasional fluff than one of the rags who have done fuck all and been an abortion all tournament.

I’ve long been on the fence regarding Stones. I find myself agreeing with those that say he has a mistake in him every game. I’m also though, impressed with his skill and overall contribution to the team (City and England). I had a little think and don’t believe that we have a perfect player in the squad. All of them, even David and Kev, have weaknesses in their game. I’m not sure he makes any more mistakes than his teammates. Even Komps averages a couple of mistakes every game.

Stones has also developed into a major goal-scoring threat at set pieces. He was a defensive header off the line away from netting a goal that prob would have seen England lining up on Sunday.
