would they really risk injury and a 50mil fee for a player (in a friendly) if deal was really that close? whether there is 1 day or 30+ days left in transfer window....after months of talks, this deal should already be done!

In that briefing the club gave the press today, journalists were told that a deal was "still some way off" so I guess it's not a surprise that he's playing tonight. Probably a bit of posturing going on from both clubs as they haggle over the fee.

It wouldn't appear to be done... Or be that close. But who knows?

Have you any idea of the ins and outs of this alleged transfer

I've no idea, just typing out my frustrations over this transfer in a transfer forum mate!;) Just like with Kev last season...it does tend to give us an idea of how close (or not) we are in negotiations. As another poster mentioned, Kev played 2-3 friendly games and wasnt signed until the end of August, so we still could have a long way to go and even after playing the waiting game we still paid close to Kev's valuation, so the hold up didnt seem to benefit us much then either. Chances are this is all Everton just trying to put the pressure on to get things moving, which I'm glad about as we seem happy to be in "wait and see" mode....surely I'm not the only one thats getting alittle frustrated with how slow this is moving? Didnt he agree to come months ago? If we wait until Sept 1st and still pay close to 50mil, I just feel we might as well paid that 50mil 5 weeks earlier and gave the lad chance to get in for pre-season....but we'd never have chance to find that out, unless we could time travel!;)

All part of the fun of transfer window!;)

Again it's Pep to call first. He needs to have spent a few days with Otamendi and Mangala. That's when Pep and Txiki are back from China as well. Before that I seriously expect nothing if at all.
