Lots of speculation has been made about Evertons 3 prize assets and whether they can hold on to them namely Stones, Barkley and Lukaku.
Their one player who has been under the radar and a far better buy for us than these 3 is Seamus Colman - young, energetic and great in attack too like a young Zabaletta. Dunno if they would sell him but I would take both Colman and Stones. I've gone right off Barkley though as he's a greedy bastard who just wants to look good for himself and not at all a team player. Any thoughts on Colman?

Coleman falls into the Jesse Lingard category of "young" He's not far off his 28th birthday. He's decent but Everton is about his level and he's not going to improve now.

I like Coleman, but he's 27 so hardly a kid. A good 3 or 4 years from him but probably not worth what Everton would want

Never saw Nasty pull anything like Stone's last minute brain fart in the FA cup semi final though - "am I marking you mate? Hang on a sec, I see my Mam in the crowd, I'm going over to say hi"
Fair point but move on from the main stand at maine road and give the lad a chance you might be surprised

If you believe this....he not going anywhere....

Hope Everton stick to their guns. Mangala is a better defender and passer of the ball - and I'm still not sure whether Mangala is good enough!

I'm taking it you think kompanys shit after that mistake he made against Sunderland in the cup final a couple seasons ago too?

You know what to be honest I wouldn't mind missing out on Stones, Would prefer to see a Mangala-Laporte partnership in the future, I think Mangala is just starting to figure the league out and if we were to put him with someone who is actually a half compitent footballer such as Laporte I think he would do incredible.

I do feel bad for Mangala to an extent, I really don't feel he has done much wrong, I think the first five games of this season I think we saw that there is a very talented player in him when there was a competent defender around him in Kompany and not the headless chicken that we had in Otamendi.

But more than anything I feel he has been unlucky Kompany was awful 14/15 and Mangala took a lot of the stick because of the price tag that we paid. but he was in a new environment a completely different league, didnt speak the language and as a result that caused problems. last year as I said he was fantastic the first five games, then Kompany went down and he was stuck with otamendi (or the headless chicken) and I think him only being in his second year in the league, he was thrown into a postion that he was not used to

I also feel this manager threw him under the bus when he said "we made a couple of mistakes" instead of just blaming his tactics and accepting responsibility as a whole. I think a year under pep will do this boy wonders.

I don't know what it is about Mangala that makes so many people wishcast about him. I suppose it's the elite athleticism, but there's no point in white washing all of the actual poor plays he made while wearing our shirt. Yes, maybe you could change a few dozen things and maybe he'd actually step up as a player but he's done very little while wearing our shirt to make it seem like that is coming. Everyone wants to point to 5 matches with Kompany when our attack was flying and the defenders had little to do as some sort of paragon of defending.

I'm not even that down on Mangala, he's been good for us when we've had him essentially playing sweeper. He's got all that power and speed and can use it to clean things up well. But he still has a bunch of lousy habits and isn't comfortable on the ball. Doesn't make him a bad guy and I'll root for him in our shirt but the notion that he's going to suddenly turn into a great defender is just fantasy stuff.

To contrast with Stones and make this post more relevant, the things Mangala seems to struggle with are things that are just inherent in a player. You can teach a player better positioning but you can't teach him to be cool on the ball or to have the instinct to step up and deny an attack. His instincts seem to be wrong too often. Stones has a bit of this, as well, but at least he has tremendous instincts when he's on the ball.

The post above on this page saying Mangala is better on the ball must be a troll. Eliaquims mother probably wouldn't even say that
