I fear you are forgetting the very FFP rules that Everton were all too eager to domestically endorse. You have a 38000 capacity shed of a ground, your income levels are a country mile below those of United, City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool, and your spending levels and ability to attract top players will always be limited as a result, regardless of how much money your new owner has. We were lucky, we were the last ones over the drawbridge before the old Sky 4 teamed up with Platini, Milan, Munich & Co to try and nobble prospective future competitors. Meanwhile Everton went and joined the other turkeys voting for Christmas by agreeing to FFP in the Premier League. Sorry mate, but you ain't getting a snout in the trough - and by association, winning 'owt - anytime soon

To borrow from one of your favourite bands (Aerosmith): night in the ruts.

I actually think this is what's holding this all up. Everton are playing chicken with him over a loyalty payment. If he'd sense he'd forgo it to be in pre-season with us a quick as possible.
My thoughts too mate, I know a lot of media outlets are reporting that he's told Everton he wants out, but, as yet, nowhere have I seen a report saying he has said so officially.

So what your saying is that if they still wanted him, then there is competition. Can you confirm the rags and chavs still want him but backed off because of Pep.

Isn't that common sense?

If more teams are interested in a player then the more competition there is for the signature. Hence a bidding war which would make the price rise.

All I'm saying is that at the start of the summer it was reported that a number of clubs were interested in Stones. Chelsea and Mourinho both wanted him the previous season and are/were looking at CBs.

However, it seems that Stones wants to come to City. If he's dead set on the deal then he will have already agreed personal terms.

On top of that, Mourinho and Chelsea have both looked elsewhere for CBs.

There could be a number of reasons why Chelsea and United haven't followed up their interest in Stones. Maybe they don't value him at what Everton want, or maybe they want better alternatives.

All i'm saying is that for one reason or another we are the only team currently in the running for Stones and Txiki has previous for turning our future signings head away from any competition.

It happened with Pep and Sterling.

Of course it is common sense, but you said that there was competitionand as a result of Pep, we are sole bidders. I asked you to confirm this as I wasnt aware of any competition , and you havent

I didn't mention Pep.

I said there was no other competition because Txiki has already turned his head and Stones wants to join us.

Therefore, there is no point in other clubs getting involved and losing out.

Are you saying that there were no other clubs interested in Stones?

It was you who said we had got rid of the competition. My query was, was there any competition in the first place?
