He's been playing shit for over a month now. No idea where people are pulling his £50 million valuation from cos what I see is a young defender who is comfortable with the ball at his feet but makes the most glaringly basic defensive errors game after game.

50m is an absurd valuation. Even taking into account premiums for English born players, he's still got such a lot to learn in the game before any world class price tags can be attached to him.

the new TV deal means unfortunately that the market will go absolutely crazy...

Victim of his own hype. As soon as people started talking him up, he has a cockyness about him and seems to want to prove time and time again how good he is on the ball, and then makes mistakes with suicide passes.

Needs to get back to doing what got him the hype in the first place and rescrew his head back on.

Not a right-back. Worth easily over £30m for his potential. Chelsea had £40m rejected, so that's the benchmark.

Can possibly go on to become the best in the world. He's under the microscope and making errors that young players make, just like Sterling.

Under a proper manager and our players, he will be unbelievable.

I urge people, if they can, to watch footage of his performance against Chelsea at Goodison this season.

I'd love him at City along with Barkley - I think Pep and playing with the players we have will take him to another level

Pep has had to deal with Dante at Munich and he is a walking accident

Stones needs to get away from that fraud Martinez ASAP if he wants to fulfill his potential.

I think this is part of the problem, he knows he's gone this summer, and he can't wait. Bit troubling that he's let his head go though, but as Tolm said, he's a young lad and he's probably spending half his time on the pitch counting in his head the money he will be making next season......

Needs to be coached but has some skills that just cannot be taught, is he worth 50m+? No but neither is Sterling. You are paying for 10+ years of potentially world class service. Has a lot going for him and would like to see him at City.

Honestly haven't seen anything to suggest he's a better prospect than Denayer personally....

I don't mind Stones joining as long as two of the current four go though.

Agree also on Barkley, he was always going to go up another level.

We are hyper critical of central defenders, it's a dying art and a generational shift in how the game wants to be all about offense.

I don't rate Boateng, I don't rate Ramos and I even think Thiago is overrated, albeit, a leader of men.

Terry has been the outstanding central defender of this generation but I see something in Stones which is very special indeed. He's learning his craft and we have to absolutely make sure that is done with us, warts and all.

We've rightly taken that leap of faith with Sterling.

It costs us a helluva lot more than other clubs because we are at a level where some of these kids won't even chance their arm on us before they are coming to prominence.

We tried for Sterling and Delph years back, and the going rate for Stones is out of our hands.

I'd move for him now. If they had beaten us, he would presumably want his cup final appearance but that chance has gone. Our injuries, and the uncertainty around Vinnie, are such that (FFP considerations permitting) we should take the punt before this window closes. I think we will need two centre backs in over the summer so get one done early.
