John Stones

Maybe I've got my games muddled up then. Your memory appears to be a lot better than mine!

I had to look some of it up, but I remember watching the game and thinking how the hell are we interested in him. There had been stories of us signing him earlier that week.. Since then, I've watched him closely and I'd say he's been responsible for well over 20 goals personally! Only this week he was poor for the first 3 Liverpool goals, and for me was at fault for both Rag goals yesterday.... I think people have been blinded by his classy look on the ball, but he's just not a very good defender...!!

I would be happy if we signed him, but not laporte as well. We should have Kompany, mangala, denayer and stones. Fuck otamendi off unless he learns basic positioning

Stones is miles better than otamendi and mangala.
everyone picks up on every mistake he makes
both otamendi and mangala were bailed out again by hart yesterday
People just need to accept mangala fernando and bony etc not at peps level.
he wants to coach good footballers and stones us clearly that
u must be dreaming lol
and for 50 fucking million lol

He's better than three of our current 4 CBs, and the highest potential out of them all. I hope to see him in a City shirt.

Anything over £30 million would be a big big risk, the guy has talent but nobody is convincing me there isn't a player somewhere in Europe who we could snap up for peanuts.

Pep should have his own targets not just who we have been linked with in the past.

In fairness mangala isn't that good himself. ..even sakhos ahead of him in the French squad

He'll do a good job playing against big strikers like costa and ibra but if he's up against someone who can run in behind he plays shit

paulinho was ahead of fernandinho in the brazil squad so thats not saying much

it just means that the coach is a idiot

You could stick Maldini in his prime in that Martinez team and he would look shite. Not saying Stones hasn't been poor this season but people forget the reason we are even talking about him is how good he was in previous seasons. If Pep wants him then that's good enough for me.

I actually like the way he runs out with the ball without any fear and is able to be pass it under pressure.

But..the fact is he's a defender and I want our defenders to be able to do that FIRST, hes struggling with the basics of defending and he's making mistakes every game. Laughable if we paid £50m on a defender just because he's good on the ball.

From the little I have seen of him Stones likes to play football more than he likes to defend if that makes sense. Pep will probably buy him and convert him in a midfielder...

If we just want our defenders to be able to pass, why not just play Yaya there? Or Silva? Or Nasri? Surely defending is more important?

I remember you being as confident about Bony's abilities,i say that because I agreed with you :-(

It looks like this is happening and i cant pretend to be impressed, however,he certainly plays the ball better than Otamendi and Mangala,so,in that respect at least, its an improvement.I guess the masterplan is that he wont have much defending to do when our midfield is revamped.
The best defenders generally don't. Like I have said a million times, I'm all in with Stones. It's not the hype that gets me, nor the youth, nor am I oblivious to the mistakes. I'm surer about Stones succeeding at City next year, than I am about any other player in the Premier league.

He is that close to perfect of a fit, as any English lad could ever be, for a Barcelona like team. A team that attempts to posses the ball comfortably, regardless of what area of the field they are in.

If we sign this Lad and Larpote. I expect both to become the starting CB combo by season's end. Coz they are both better footballers than any of the current CBs we have.

Again, I'd liken these 2 young talents to Pique and Boateng. Neither of whom were great defensive studs as youths. But on a team that holds possession so much, both have easily become 2 of the best CBs around. With possession grossly in their favor both have become supremely confident in their defending and their belief in the system they are in.

Same will be the case when we get Larpote and Stones.
