Jack Rodwell got into that teamWent on the Sunderland message board to find out about Defoe's injury, and found 150 comments in a thread entitled, "Would John Stones get in our XI?" and the overwhelming view is that no he wouldn't and he can't defend.
I hope you do not mean that. The opposite is true. They showcase a player, and for football fans they are a brilliant tool especially for overseas players who you have never heard of.
Imagine that we were linked with Leroy Sane, or Gabriel Jesus in the 1980s. We wouldn't have a clue.
They are not perfect. Players like Samaras can look good against weak opponents, and they maybe very good at one thing which they do again again and again, but if you watched them closely enough, and critically enough, you might pick that out.
Lets go back to newspapers and relying on some rabid Man Utd fan for our view of a player.I mean they do nothing for me as, as you say, anyone can look superb in a clip of their best bits

Im sure somone could cobble one together. Im not having a go as Stones, just I take nothing from these compilation vids that people post now and again. Is there a YouTube comp that makes Kolarov look like he can defend?
You obviously believe these vids tell you what to expect, I don,t. You obviously have a problem with that.. Care to explain what it is rather than silly retortsLets go back to newspapers and relying on some rabid Man Utd fan for our view of a player.

Expected comments about the fee - not his ability as a player. A load of Evertonians rubbishing him - must be on there because of Moyes. Fans always do this: You sign a player, he's brilliant, wait till you see him. You sell him. "He was rubbish". But Sunderland should be neutral. I think it reflects the bad press he has had over the last 12 months and Everton's defending as a team. That for me was entirely down to Martinez.Jack Rodwell got into that team
Think the multiple signings of Petrov, Elano, Garrido, Corluka and Bojinov was one of the most exciting days as a Blue, after the dour fare served up in the Pearce era.
And your point being ?Went on the Sunderland message board to find out about Defoe's injury, and found 150 comments in a thread entitled, "Would John Stones get in our XI?" and the overwhelming view is that no he wouldn't and he can't defend.
It was like a revolution! I did like our Sven ;)Think the multiple signings of Petrov, Elano, Garrido, Corluka and Bojinov was one of the most exciting days as a Blue, after the dour fare served up in the Pearce era.

You're definitely after Adrian Durhams job.I thought it was brilliant.
You have an idea of who leroy Sane is now don't you? How did you get that? Of course they don't tell you everything and you need to be critical. What are the opposition like etc, but you think what you would know without them. A load of City fans instantly give you quite a good summary of Leroy sane from a 5 minute video. He's seriously quick, very one footed. Cuts in from the right on his left foot. Very strong and great balance etc. An eye for goal etc etc.You obviously believe these vids tell you what to expect, I don,t. You obviously have a problem with that.. So, to be devils advocate. If someone were to compile a 5 min clip of Sane cock ups, missed sitters, loss of control etc (you get the drift), and IMO, the feck up clips would be more easily compiled on most players, what would be your angle then. You have an idea of who leroy Sane is now don't you? My angle would be I know what I am watching. You are human, give yourself some credit for being able to discern what you are watching. So, to be devils advocate. For me, all these vids show is what someone has done in the past. If your one of those who believes this is the normal standard of play, then, fine , but I dont buy into that
Still some way to go on this deal? The fee for Stones is not agreed according to newspaper reports that seem quite informed.
Everton value him at £50m, with City believing a deal can be done around £45m is my summary.
