John Stones

The valuation Everton have placed on him is a joke. He's a good player probably worth £20m if you are honest - he's home grown and young etc. but it's pushing it at £30m - we are being generous offering £40m - so £50m is just scandalous. I have no problem Everton asking but we don't have to and shouldn't pay it. Let's look elsewhere. Maybe Bonucci for now - proven quality and look in the future at longer term replacements. Stones value isn't going to go up anymore - so he may even be an option in the future.

Surely we can play hard here and offer a compromise with the proviso that they take one or two off our hands - if not Bony, maybe Kolarov & Delph plus £40m

Everton are only doing what any club would do.

Although it will be interesting to see what Stones and his agent thinks if the deal falls through.

That will be two big money transfers they have turned down and they are hardly showing any ambition in the transfer market so far.

Coming off the back of a very poor season and being linked with some very good players like Mata and Kouilbiali but only signing a Villa midfielder is hardly going to appeal to the lad.
Stones will be a City player by the end of the window, of that I have absolutely zero doubt.

Transfer-wise it's been a poor summer*. This SHOULD turn on its head the next week or so, though we've been saying that for a couple weeks in a row now.

Not going to throw all the toys out the pram now since it's not even August, but squad as it stands right now is no better than it was in May. Just older. Better coached, mind.

* so far
Gundogan and Nolito?

50 million is huge money. We always struggle in deals with the blue dippers. One day we will have these fuckers over.

Stones at 50' is good business if he performs without injury for 10 years, and becomes the player we want. How much did Rio cost ? I think we pay a massive premium for average English players

£30mil I think!!!

When is our 'booooom' btw??

Serves the greedy f*ckers right if we've walked. (and I include Stones in that, for not pushing harder for the move, for fear of losing his "loyalty bonus")

Still think Mangala has all the tools to be top draw, under a decent coach (Pep)

What makes you think Bonucci would even consider leaving.. think of who is actually available, not pipe dreams.

In today's market stones is 50mil

Still doesn't mean we have to buy, if we don't consider he's good value. and, on last season's showing, I think 40 mill is considerably more than generous

Wasn't it less than a year ago that Chelsea offered 26 and Everton wanted 34?

I hope we walk because that will be twice Everton have turned down good offers for Stones while an unhappy player languishes in the reserves and pay him what, 30k a week?

No idea what Everton are gaining by this now.

Only a guide but Transfermarkt valued him at 25 a year ago and it's now 24. He has 3 years left on his contract when he will be 25 years old.I'd love to get the kid for zero.

If Everton prefer a lose/lose rather than a win/win that's their funeral they won't get more than our offer from anyone else and have an unhappy player in the reserves.

He will come.

I had about 12 replies and can't reply to them all so I shan't reply to any, to be fair! :)

Told you. Club won't budge from £50m.

I still expect City to pay it, mind.
if City do pay it, it will be a hollow victory. He'll have to be replaced and you'll get done. if Moshiri is as wealthy and committed to EFC as claimed, why didn't you just sell the player for £40 million which is a good fee for him, and replace him with a player you had lined up with the 12 months notice you were given from this time last year?

I am not sure City will be prepared to go to £50m for him as there might be more to be gained by showing clubs that we wont just pay whatever is asked.
