Exactly. Unhappy player. I suspect we don't want to leave him stranded but their has to be a limit.

if City do pay it, it will be a hollow victory. He'll have to be replaced and you'll get done. if Moshiri is as wealthy and committed to EFC as claimed, why didn't you just sell the player for £40 million which is a good fee for him, and replace him with a player you had lined up with the 12 months notice you were given from this time last year?
I am not sure City will be prepared to go to £50m for him as there might be more to be gained by showing clubs that we wont just pay whatever is asked.
Totally agree with that last sentence.
He did the same last summer with Chelsea and it didn't seem to matter. Some may forget he has asked to leave and come to us ......that is significant

For the full asking Price, Paul?Ok we ll see tiger, my money is on him signing
I have a feeling that he's going to sign tonight at 3am.
Stones is only worth what we're willing to pay and as with Aubamayang and Pogba, when we've been quoted piss taking prices, we've stepped off and looked elsewhere. In today's market stones is 50mil
This transfer would also be made a lot easier if Stones also adds pressure from within
True, he didn't have the greatest if seasons last year, him wanting to leave might have been a factor in that, are they going to take a chance of that propagating through the following seasonI don't think that's fair. Stones has told Everton he wants to leave, and that City are the team he wants to join. He can't really do much more. It's not for him to dictate the price, that's for the two clubs to resolve.
My guess would be that we are stuck at 40mil, whilst saying to Everton we are happy to sit down and negotiate, whereas Everton will be saying 50mil or we don't speak.Ah well, if the reports are correct and it's now up to the two teams to negotiate a fee then it'll be interesting to see who blinks first. There are two views on this board where transfer fees are concerned:
1. Just pay the bloody free and get the player. It's only a matter of a few £million and with the amount of dosh swilling around the game, and looking at the bigger picture, it's not that important.
2. Fuck off, he's not worth £50m and we've currently got players in the squad who we've overspent on and will take big losses on.
For me personally, I don't care about the fee. It appears, if reports are to be believed, that we're going to move Bony and Mangala on, and will definitely take a loss on both - this appears to irk some of our fans. Doesn't bother me one bit, as teams have made loses on players time and again since the transfer market went haywire. Hey, I like Sterling and think he done ok last season, but he certainly didn't look £50m worth of footballer - but he has plenty of time, and I genuinely believe he'll end up being worth every penny.
So I suppose my view is, get the player.
If we have taken this stance we have to see it through. If we end up paying the full whack again we will continually find ourselves being held to ransom.
