I’m pretty certain Agüero will extend, a lot indicates he will. Plus, Jesus is here. We will not buy a striker this window, maybe next summer. We’re covered in midfield too. Aké can also slot in as CDM.

We will add hopefully two centrebacks and maybe a left back. Would be very surprised if we added anything else.

Our top priority have been centre back position ever since Kompany left. It’s time we focus on this area. Aké is not the final piece. I’m certain.
Only way we buy a forward is if one of our targets comes up then we go in do the business. Tbh we are very weak upfront and it has been our downfall . To say we are a team who strive to be elite and sit at the top table and we only have 2 strikers is quite ridiculous. We should always have a different option on the bench for when things are not working which we have seen all season . Problem we have is we play one great game and then everyone seems to forget what our failings are . I mean against Real Madrid if we had a world class centre forward on that pitch that game and like most other. Games were we create chance after chance would be over at halftime .

He's on 150k a week mate, he's got better things to do than 'troll' ungrateful bastards on the internet.

Money or not, this is about possibly leaving one of the best clubs on the planet at age 26 and against your own will. I believe that would hurt quite a few players.
Despite making all that money, it’s still a career path going in the wrong direction.

Lots of people getting upset about my prediction for some reason. Let’s see in a couple of weeks who was right, but in the meantime it could be worth contemplating as to why Pep choose to play 35 year old defensive midfielder Fernandinho ahead of a 26 year old (and fit) John Stones, who actually is a centre back? I think people here would struggle answering this question.

I said before I’m very grateful to what John did for this club but his time here is up. We can’t keep blaming circumstances. Since 2016 he’s had plenty of time to convince Guardiola, and he hasn’t.

Stones at his peak and on his A game was a special talent. Great with the ball, confident and strong in the tackle. Unfortunately, that player is in the past and I don't think we will see him again. I will be honest I wanted him to be sold, however it looks like with Garcia returning to Spain he may have another chance. Prove me wrong John get your head sorted and start playing like you did in the Centurions season and all City fans will be happy.

Despite scoring 148 goals in all comps so far, that's not weak, what is (or can be) "weak" is some of our finishing, but that's down to certain individuals at certain moments, and we don't need to change those individuals.

Have you even made a prediction? You made a ridiculous suggestion that Stones made that post as a dig at so called fans like yourself. How do you quantify if that could ever be the case, by him leaving? No one said he’s going to 100% be here at the end of the transfer window.

I’ve lurked on this site for years, read thousands of posts it was your stupid post that irritated me enough to sign up, think about that for a second.

A year or two ago, I had this exact mindset about Stones. ”If he only finds his old self again”. It didn’t happen and I don’t think the club should waste another minute waiting for it. Pep seem livid Garcia wants out because he had plans for him in this squad next season. Laporte+Aké+Koulibaly and Garcia. Where is Stones in this squad?

He also picks 35yo CDM Fernandinho ahead of a 9 year younger Stones. You have all the signs you need to realize Pep is fed up.

For every year waiting on John, fantastic players like De Bruyne only get older, Peps time at City is ticking down and our best chance of winning the UCL might get wasted because we have a few weak links at the back, all while our forwards are doing their part and scoring three-figure goals every season. I can’t help getting pissed off when looking in the rear-view mirror. Many european nights in the Champions League could’ve ended very differently if we had a great defence.

think about that for a second.

Yes I just did, and it’s quite a compliment really, for me to transform you into actively joining the conversation. That’s why we’re all here, although I’m sure you’ve read far worse posts over the years.

My ”theory” is not really that far-fetched, as viewed from Johns perspective:

• Slated by the media for not being the consistent rock Pep so desperately need for success: CHECK.

• Not feeling the fans full support, sensing a public cryout for a better defender. I’m assuming John knows we’ve also just signed Aké, indicating the club’s not too happy with the current situation. Probably CHECK.

• Slipping down the centre back pecking order by your own manager despite being fit, with an inexperienced 19 year-old and a 35 year-old defensive midfielder ahead of you. This one definitely hurts. CHECK.

Above is Johns current situation at this club and it’s not made up by me.
I don’t think Stones is feeling too sure about his future at this club, but would you just lay down and die? No you’d probably do the exact opposite; show your ’haters’ you’re not going anywhere, which he did today.

I'd be pretty surprised if he leaves now that Garcia will go. Laporte + Koulibaly/Diego Carlos + Ake + Stones sounds about right to me.

148 goals is incredible but it probably should have reached 170 plus.

Some of the chances we miss is appalling and has cost us dear in the big matches.

I think Stones problems are all of his own making, splitting up with his long term partner and the odd injury have seen him lose all confidence and form. He needs to get his head right to become the player he has shown he can become otherwise City will move him on. Walker has been in the news for the same issues but his attitude to it all hasn't effected his football, however with Stones the opposite appears to be true....!
If John Stones was playing for a club with a red shirt every single poster on here would be taking the piss out of him.
He has messed his life and career up big time, let himself , manager and club down badly.
Yet people still want to give him time, incredible!

Looks like City are forced to extend Stones after Garcia has declared his desire to leave. We can't buy 3 CBs in one window
Why not? Laporte and Fern to help them settle.

Otto and Stones have hardly played all season, won't be much of a loss.

Big statement from him to make.

Hopefully it means we are not wasting 65m on Koulibaly.
It means Stones is celebrating the fact of a 19 yo CB's departure, with City consequently allowing him to be 5th choice in his position next season. Has nothing to do with Koulibaly and his alternatives

Due to financial reasons, the club have other areas to improve

Possibly Stones put out his Instagram message to convey to the club that he is going nowhere unless it suits him to move. That means to a club he would be happy to join and, possibly more importantly, that he doesn't earn a single penny less than if he had stayed with us until the end of his highly lucrative contract.

The other reason might be that the club has realised there is no chance of offloading him as there are no interested parties whatsoever.

Stones has 2 years left so whatever we do with him we’ll lose. Even £20m for a transfer would be ok.

He’s unlikely to play much this especially when another CB comes in. Next summer his value would be £20m max with a year left and high wages. If we extend his contact to increase his transfer value we’ll have to increase his wages also which is completely undeserved.

CB and a top class one is the No1 priority this summer, and I don't class Ake as that.

Why is everyone saying 5th choice, for all we know Gundo will move forward in midfield to cover Silvas departure, ferna back in as backup to Rodri. That leaves Stones as second choice RCB even with a new signing for that position? Fact is Pep has already said the club will sit down with Stones at the end of the season and work out what’s best for player and club until that conversation there’s no point inferring anything out of a social media post.Theres a small matter of a champions league mini tournament we would like our players to focus all their attention on, If only people on here could do the same.

Aké is a serious improvement to Stones and Otamendi but I agree, we still need someone even better than him.

Don’t really get the ”we have other areas to improve”. We literally improved all other areas these past few years. We’ve had very few defensive signings turning out great considering what we paid. We’re starting to see Cancelo now, we have Walker and Laporte. But the rest of them haven’t been great.

Attacking wise, we still outscored Liverpool this season by around 30(!) goals. We have no problems up front, or in midfield. Our problem is defence and it was the same last summer.
