About two hours ago I got a phone call to tell me that Terry is signing for £45M and £280k a week. This came from somebody I know very well who knows Bramble's brother very well.

I asked why would Bramble know and was told because he's good mates with SWP.

I took it with a pinch of salt but then came on here to see exactly the same rumours and numbers being quoted.

Could be bollox. Probably is. But good fun anyway!!

Terry as their club captain will surely have to give a press conference with his manager in the next day or so - that is normal on pre-season promotional tours...If he is not seen giving any interview in the next 2 days then this is happening imo.

Nope, never in a million years was we offering 280k. It was 160k. Can't believe people actully believe the numbers the papers make up.

He's already on about 135-140k as it is. I doubt he'd seriously consider leaving Chelsea for City at this moment in time if there was just 20-25k more a week in it for him, unless there was some huge signing bonus involved. It may not have been 280k, but something like 200k sounds believable.

Nope it was 160, its all about a freash challenge and he would clear an extra 15k a week after tax, over 5 years tht really does add up, dont forget players get 10% cut of transfer fee aswell. Add to that the Umbro deal.

I guess that's the sort of money A Rod is on with the Yankees - so perhaps it is possible but somehow I doubt it. If it is true Redknapp will have a cardiac arrest!

With the 10% transfer cut and extra 20k a week over 5 years that's still about £8m he'd make from the move.
