One more point that everybody has missed. here's another theory chelsea get a new high profile manager who wants to put his own stamp on things at the club and may think terry thinks he is chelsea if you belive the rumours about terry not gettin on with mourino and schorli etc etc

still dont think he'll come but here's hoping

The stupid bastards on the Ragspaz Channel actually made that point, amazingly enough. And Terry has a million excuses for going back on his word about never leaving his beloved Chelski (if he ever did say that). Managerial instability,Abromovich interference and the clubs seemingly dwindling ambition will be all the excuses he needs, should he sign for us, which I think he will.

I actually think football is more important to Terry than money. Regardless of what people say, come the season after next, City will be in the Champions League with Terry as captain.

If football is more important to him than money than why would he even ponder leaving Chelsea for City?

And he doesn't need to wait for the season after next(best case scenario) to play in the Champions League, he's been doing it in Chelsea shirt for six seasons now.

Nice effort though,full marks.

I see your captain still hasn't clarified his desire to remain with you!

We'll find out next week, one way or the other. So far the only facts are: City made the bid and we rejected it. The rest is just rumors which people choose to believe or not believe depending on who you talk to.

I still think it's a ploy to get a better contract but if he's in fact serious about joining City I'm in full support of the club forcing Terry to write a transfer request and explain to the CFC fans what possible reason besides bigger paycheck could make him come to this decision.

¤ Christopher Samba has put Manchester City on red alert by refusing to pledge his future to Blackburn Rovers (Graham Chase writes). The centre back was brought to Ewood Park by Mark Hughes in January 2007 and the City manager wanted to take him to Manchester last summer. ”

Very surprised this hasn't been brought up more yet this summer. I thought he would have been one of the first ones hughes went back for

Because he's coming to a team with younger and better players. He's coming to a club and a team that can only go in one direction and that's up. Chelsea and their team have reached their peek and will start to decline over the coming years.

Not only that, people 'and' football player's get stale in their jobs. Every now and again something pops up that makes you as a person think, I'll have a bit of that. If your lucky enough.

Me, I've just got a boring 9-5 job.

Re: Chelsea reject Terry offer [Merged]

Definately not top 4 defensive material .

Samba is not a Vidic, Ferdinand, Terry, Carragher etc.....

Not good enough for where we are going. Bad enough we have got the likes of Bellamy and RSC. Sighing him would just prove Hughes is a one trick pony IMO.

Not really, because then we would become challengers.

but chelsea are challengers we mite only be

With these signing's, we are challangers. Believe.

dont think youd get an explanation to the fans, a transfer request yes but imagine if they tried to make him explain and he came out with lack of ambition in the transfer market, lack of interest from abramovich or lack of continuity in management. I doubt he would but who knows if chelsea triad to make him look the bastard ? best thing would just be if he put a request in leave it at that and let people speculate it is probably money and not the project.

I can't decide if that's true or not. Especially if they start leaking players and not replacing them. Not saying they will but that's looking more likely than not and they genuinely have to do something about the average age of the team. Way too many peole who are well into their thirties.

One more point that everybody has missed. Terry would or should know by now if Tevez has chosen Chelsea over us. Roman tells him everything if you believe the rumours. That being the case, which it probably isn't if you believe the rumours, Terry would have definitely turned us down as one of our top targets has signed for Chelsea. Do you understand what I'm getting at?

If, on the other hand, and I am not preaching this as gospel as it probably isnt, we beleived these rumours as you suggest we should or should not as the case may be : there is every possibilty that what you say could be construed in a positive or negative light depending on the perceived outcome of the above. In other words it will all come in the wash mate.

Even if he just puts in a transfer request it's a no win situation for Terry. Do you really think anyone would believe for a second that he'd choose City over his boyhood club for any other reason but money?

He's already the highest paid player at the club and has a clause in his contract that stipulates that he'll remain such, no matter who we bring from the outside or who gets the raise in the existing squad. John came through the ranks and became the club's and the national team captain with Chelsea, won all the domestic trophies and came very close on more than one occasion of winning the CL.

No matter what possible reasons for Terry's joining City you could come up with, the only viable of them all is money and he's getting plenty of it already. He may get a lot more somewhere else but I hope he realizes that he'll lose everything else he worked so hard for while playing for Chelsea and quite a few people will never look at, or think of him the same.

Re: Chelsea reject Terry offer [Merged]

He realises that there is no longer any challenge at Chelsea. He will walk into the team, and they will win trophies whether he is there o not. At City, he hasn't got the 'club stalwart' tag hence would not be considered an automatic pick when he's 35. He sees a hard-working, professional team been crafted and may feel he can add to that. At City, he would make a huge difference to us, and would get in on the ground floor.

Also, money.
