Joleon Lescott

He was a huge part in us winning the league and will always be grateful for that but he does seem to have lost a yard of pace or something this season - can't see us offering him a new deal.

Have to wonder whether we'd have been better keeping Kolo and selling Lescott. Strange decision letting Kolo go and then signing a 32-year old with no experience of English football for 4 million quid.

Not sure how easy it would have been to keep Kolo. Clearly we were never going to pay him anything like his previous contract. I've heard/read a few ex players say that, when they were nearing the end of their careers, it was easier to take a reduced deal at a different club than accept a pay cut at their existing club. Mainly to do with dressing room status.

I dont think he's lost any pace per say, he's just being asked to play a role that exposes his weaknesses.

Good player? Yes. Good bloke? From what we can tell, undoubtedly. In any way suited to our new system what so ever? Not on your life.

You only have to watch the first half against hull to see just how piss poor Lescott is at even the simple things like reading the path of a ball never mind being able to read the game.
His pace is woefully slow at the best of times, thinking time much worse, and he was getting out muscled by far smaller players in the air, supposedly his strength.

He is not now, or ever was, anything other than average on his best days, and they are long gone, time to get shut !.

Problem is much like Barry some fans think they're irreplaceable and deserve to be at the club till their end of day's as they won the title with us..... Simple thing is if you're not good enough then you don't deserve a place in the team and if you're not willing to be a fringe player then I'm sure City won't be to downhearted to let you move on somewhere else!

From what I've seen over the past year Barry and Lescott have degraded in terms of ability so therefore makes no sense for them to remain on our pay role (something like a combined package of £220,000 a week) especially when players like themselves can still perform at mid table level.

Can't forget when LESCOTT conceded a penalty against wolves at home,Doyle was in the box near the byline facing the corner flag, and LESCOTT fouled him(pushing) in the back.

Ever since then I keep waiting for his next mistake, can't help it,and one day it may cost us dearly.ctid

Reading this forum it would appear that a lot of supporters have a lack of confidence in Lescott's ability yet it would appear to be the complete opposite for his teammates as it was very noticeable yesterday that playing our nice slow slow tippy tappy build ups they involve him a hell of a lot. If he's so poor with the ball at his feet and bringing it out of the back then somebody needs to tell our midfield because I watched him closely yesterday and the midfield players are obviously very comfortable with giving him the ball and have complete faith in him coping with this high line whilst moving it back and forth sideways time after time.

Sometimes I do wonder do we create some of our defensive problems whilst constantly going backwards and sideways inviting trouble and putting our centre halves under needless pressure especially considering Lescott was playing on his wrong side yesterday.

Lescott is not the most elegant on the ball but he has a 90% pass completion this season and that's on 200 passes so he has seen plenty of the ball.

and its been scary..................199 to hart (who cant kick it either), and the other one 5yrds to clichy?

And when was that?

Two seasons ago.

You've been waiting a long time. Who knows how much longer you're going to have to wait
