joleon lescott

I thought the goal was Lescott & Panti's fault, which is a pity because I also thought Lescott was the best City defender by a street & without him we would have just folded completely. Often the only player doing anything to defend anything in our penalty area. The rest just hid behind him & left him to it.

The people who give him shit are clueless wankers who know fuck all about football, which unfortunately seem to be on the increase in the days of computer football, which bares no relation to the real thing.

Good post - in total agreement mate .

Whatever some cretins have said to Lescott cannot hinder the fact the he is not good enough for City.

He was accomplice for Boyata's red card, Lescott. Poor vision, poor distribution, poor touch, made the lad nervous losing the ball and committing that stupid foul.

Talking shite- bogata struggles at right back PERIOD !!
He is NOT a right back !

-- Sun Jan 05, 2014 11:38 am --

I tend to agree.

Lescott is a bloody good defender and a player who generally makes the most of the gifts he has. He isn't the quickest. He is hardly elegant on the ball but he keeps his passing simple and gets it to team mates who are better on the ball.

As to whether he acknowledges supporters during a game, he should be bloody concentrating on the match.

I seem to remember it was the controversial great Leeds United team of the late 1960's who started the trend of waving to all their fans BEFORE the game....(Note the identitabs on their socks, which were popular for a short time).

Put the right back under pressure every time he had the ball.
QPR last game of the season defines Lescott for me, thank Christ for Aguero.

Now where's that media backlash you were all worried about after Lescott sent that tweet?

Seems it was completely contrived in this thread alone!

I think thats unfair, he was absolutely phenomenal for us when we won the league, Just as vital as Kompany.

Lescott is a fucking disgrace, 7,000+ City fans turned up to watch that shite and because 1!!! Idiot abused him, he didn't thank the rest of us.

May not be popular on here I know but it angers me so much.
So any player who doesn't come over and clap the away end ever is a disgrace?
Especially one who seemed to be upset at the time

Behave.
He was right to be upset. He played poorly and was at fault for the goal.

i was hammered when i wrote that but still, 1 idiot shouldn't deter him from thanking paying fans who have always backed him.

I feel like I'm going crazy. Who are you arguing your point to? Because Lescott agrees that one idiot shouldn't deter a player from thanking the rest of the away supporters. That's how this whole thing started. He went to twitter so that he could apologize for not thanking the rest of the supporters. Not as a reaction to people giving him grief about it… he just made a rash decision then proactively apologized when he realized he was wrong and that we deserved better.

In the process of apologizing, he had to explain why he wasn't himself, and that's where the rest of this ruckus starts. But I have to ask -- since everyone seems to agree that the away stand deserves some credit, including the player himself -- who are the people who keep making this argument appealing to?
