Why do we need to fill the 20 man squad? We only had a 20 man squad at the start of last season, with only 4 being homegrown (the same number as things stand I think).

Never once heard that.
It was well known a couple of years back when a club kept buying shit players for big money because they were home grown and the manager didnt like spaces on the club coach. Can't remember what team it was but I believe they learnt from it.

I don't have an issue with your general stance on signing Evans, I'm underwhelmed but not hugely against signing him myself but you're saying some odd stuff.No, i just find it hilarious that we are now a laughing stock because we are paying 25 million for one of the best centre backs outside of the top 6 teams in england. Is it ideal? No! But i can cope with it. I pity those who can't to the point where they have to come on here and cry about how embarassing their club is. We have got every player we wanted this summer bar alves. Sanchez could come next. And we would still get people moaning about jonny f**king evans!

I would actually think "that makes sense, 25 million for evans or 70 million for van dijk when evans is arguably just as good a player. And before everyone screams at me, that is my opinion, which, i hear a lot of people on his thread say, i am entitled to :-)So if Liverpool were about to sign Jonny Evans for £20mill+(?), what would you do?

Jonny Evans is a bit Average considering where we want to be and the fee is too high, I hope we sign someone else.

Hopefully we can look back at this thread and laugh some day... I must admit as much as I don't want us to sign Evans, it's already quite amusing if you take a step back. Overreactions(I'm sure they will get over it eventually if it happens) and over defensiveness(just accept that some people wont be swayed on this one and it's not just the rag element) galore.

I kept asking him earlier to tell us Evans' strengths and weaknesses, and why he didn't think he fitted into Pep's system.
