Jorginho

Does this comment make it sound like this was our last bid and not willing to go any higher? Maybe new manager wants Jorginho to stay? If Napoli want to wait to see new managers plan for the squad, we might have to wait until July for this one to be sorted.....

Napoli president De Laurentiis to CorSport: "I've just refused last bid for #Jorginho from Manchester City, they've offered €50M". #MCFC #transfers

"Carlo is the key to the internationalisation of Napoli. He wants to keep 80 per cent of the current squad, he considers it to be of a great level.

"Our targets are a goalkeeper, a full-back, a central midfielder and a winger.

"From 10-31 July Carlo will be able to assess the squad and make some decisions. Then, on 4 August we are in Dublin to play Liverpool and we will see his first Napoli team."
Nah

Think it'll be done at €50m up front with some add ons. Sounds like we are close. He publicly derided our Cavani bid so at least he's not being disrespectful here.

Applying pressure through the media imo. I still expect a compromise before Monday.

Wait to see the response of his agent now.

I'm a little conflicted. I like the look of him but equally not sure I would be bothered if City walked away from the deal.

Someone on reddit saying he actually said he rejected an €45m+€5m offer, which we already knew last week following reports the deal was nearly there.

This will probably go through for €50m+€5m, which still represents good value.

Until this is done I dont see any reason why Thiago or Fred cant be a good option....Jorginho passing is off the charts, one of the best in Europe but we have alot of passers in this squad...so wouldnt be disappointed if we went for one of the other two. Fred was our No1 DM target in Jan and no matter what anyone says, the club take months to decide on a player before showing interest, so no way do they all of a sudden not think Fred would be a good fit....I see Fred as a more direct cover/replacement for Fern, which is what I think the squad needs more than anything else..Jorginho is a top level player, world class but for above reasons I wouldnt be disappointed if talks slowed down and we went back in for Fred....

Just because he was our No.1 target in Jan doesn't mean he was our No.1 target if you get my meaning, you also have to ask yourself why the clubs interest has cooled.

Agree mate....alot goes on we never know about! Not questioning Jorginho or why we would be trying to sign him just feel even with Jorginho, Fern is still going to need help/rest and a long term replacement...I see Jorginho as someone that could play with Fern but not instead of him and thats my only concern and reason why I think/hoped we still be interested in Fred but as you say, it looks like we've moved on from that one....
